Went to Asda optician today and got a very close reglazing quote to Ciliaryblue plus you get bricks and mortar service from their optician (but this branch still has to send the frames away).

Asda looks like having the lowest overheads of any outside of online - premises are just a big alcove off the main store. Maybe that explains how their prices are kept dow.

Once job is done I'll post a summary of the presales and price quote experience Boots vs Vision Express vs an online one I contacted.
  • I used ciliaryblue for the first time only 2 weeks ago, I was very happy with the results, I emailed them to say thank you and I posted a comment on their website. I got a very nice reply back thanking me but also suggesting that if I was happy to post a review on any site that they had seen us on, they would 'appreciate it'. I won't post on here as it may be viewed as a fake! I would imagine that others here are just as mine would have been, an honest reveiw. Suffice to say, they did a good job, quickly and at a very decent cost, customer service was equally good too.

    Amazing service from ciliary blue!
Couple of years ago I had an eye test on a Wednesday just before I went on holiday Sunday morning. My prescription needed changing by quite a bit, i called ciliary blue Wednesday lunchtime, popped the glasses and sunglasses in overnight registered post to them, and they had them done the next day! There was a slight panic as the delivery should've come back to me on the Friday, but they chased the courier, and text me to tell me I'd receive the glasses Saturday morning (and this was at 8pm at night!!)
So mega thumbs up for ciliary blue x

The issue is when people create an account on MSE just to post one glowing review. It is very hard not to see this is odd. If that post also includes some important Google-catching keywords (eg ancient one's post earlier), it is doubly odd.
  • I only used them because the testimonials and comments seemed fair and numerous, I would use them again. I just didn't think this type comment/report would be viewed so sceptically by some. I don't normally comment on forums like this and it's certainly put me off doing it again, when the suggestion is that it's a fake. Not much more that I can say, other than it's not.
  • Still getting used to them but they will most definitely work with me till I am happy if I am not!!!!!

At first impression on the Varifocals I went for the most expensive they are like HD quality.

Learning the distortions at the moment and will report back.

I have however on the strength of value, customer care, diligence, professionalism, good reviews, patience, quality, advice, acumen and candor ordered another pair to be re-glazed. So that kind of says how happy I was working with them.

Certainly for the price, if you are patient it is worth a punt... It worked for me and they deserve all the abundance they reap from their hard work and fair pricing strategy.

If I dont get on with my new frames I will report back to you with their level of service. But I have confidence that the team know what they are doing.

    Overall -

    Service - 10/10
    Price - 10/10
    Speed - 9/10
    Attitude - 11/10

To be on the safe side when I get time I will check the lenses with an independent optician and verify what I have been dispensed just out of curiosity.

I will reiterate when my new lenses came and I put them on I actually said "F*(& ing H**" out loud they were that clean and clear.

I hope to be a lifetime customer as this company continues to serve, grow, prosper and develop.

Agree ASDA are also good. BUT they do not reglaze anymore... I would use them for sure though - just opt for their second from top lens not the most expensive, as this has issues with tolerance.
  • Used them a few months ago. I was so pleased with the first reglaze, I had them do a second pair.
Brilliant service & I am seeing clearly again after a few years.
I live abroad & do not trust the local opticians. As it happens I got my eyes tested in Tesco on a one day return to the UK after three years.
