Texts from PPI claims company

I have successfully claimed from my bank re a loan I had, but since then I have been getting texts from some claims company giving a specific amount which they say the banks owe me. It is not the amount I have been paid, so where are they getting this info from and is it available to me and how do I go about it. I can only think it is something to do with my credit cards.

I suspect the texts are linked to that accident you had that was not your fault. You are due £3000 compensation for that too. :)

It's just spam, and is likely not even related to your previous claim.

People who have not claimed at all get them.

They quote a specific amount because they figure that may well pique your curiosity and get you to respond.

Do these texts mention you name? Probably not!

They are just sent out to random numbers. They won't know your name, which bank you use and whether or not you ever had charges or PPI. They're just trying it on, hoping same of the recipients will contact them. Then the hard sell begins!

Perhaps the banks should contract the work out for PPI claims to these companies. As they seem to know how much you are owed. It would certainly speed up the whole process.
Given its a complex caculation to work the refund out. As laid down by the regulators.

They're spam - I get them and I've not had PPI on any loan for over 10 years.

Some mobile providers have a number you can forward the texts to (you need to prepend the number they came from on the forwarded message).

Vodafone usesVSPAM(87726) for example, 3 use 37726, etc.

  • My girlfriend who is 20 gets them, she has never had a loan never mind a credit card, she had a under 16 account and then a current account in her entire life. Its just a spam and a pile of nonsense.

    Hi all,

Just a quick message to confirm that whilst the above code will still work our customers should forward any future spam messages to the new code of 7726.

Perhaps you could prod someone to correct the page I linked to then? :)

  • We get texts all the time promising the world and as tempting as it is to get onto the PPI gravy train we don't and never have had PPI - delete, delete, delete....
