Induction v ceramic hob

If you're putting an induction hob above a cooker under, you will need a certain amount of clearance. I didn't have enough so had to have an ordinary glass hob. Looks the part but isn't induction. I was a bit miffed at the time."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Yeah. Whirlpool stipulate that they will only allow their induction hobs to be installed above one of their own built in ovens otherwise no warranty.
Ikea do a cheap set of induction compatible pans as a starter.0 -

Hi
I've got this cooker: http://www.appliance-reviews.co.uk/p/Belling-Induction-FSE60I-Electric-Cookers-in-Stainless-Steel-20705/reviews
As previously mentioned, the hob is quick to heat up and easy to control. Cleaning is a microfibre cloth and water. Would never go back to gas.
Agree about boiling the water for spuds and pasta using power boost. So quick.:)Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
Induction all the way for me. No more bain maries; I can melt chocolate directly in a non-stick pan on a low level with no problems, much easier and less mess.0

My local appliance shop was actually giving away a full set of stellar pans with every induction hob sold so could be worth looking around for deals
I just bought the pan sizes I use daily, Im sure as I get more confident with the hob Ill buy more pans0 -
Just been reading all the comments on induction hobs & I'm really interested as I want to revamp my dated kitchen.. My DiL uses a single one at the cafe she works in & say's they're great. Can anyone tell me if they're OK for Stir Fry's as you need such a high heat? I know some of the old glass topped hobs were thermostatically controlled for safety so you couldn't get the heat high enoughSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

They should be fine for stir fry's however, finding an induction compatible WOK is not a cheap or easy task...0
