What helps Fertility?

  • We had been trying for about 8 months and I found what did the trick (currently 7 weeks pregnant) was using a 'Maybe Baby' ovulation microscope. It's a microscope that shows changes in your saliva when you've ovulated, anyway on the day I ovulated it came up with such a strong positive result (called 'ferning' - your saliva when it's dried on the glass looks like a fern leaf, quite amazing really).

I also had a blood test at the doctors to see if I was ovulating or not, as I thought all the good intentions in the world wouldn't mean a thing if I wasn't! I think the next step if I hadn't gotten pregnant would be to start having several blood tests in the 2nd half of my cycle to determine exactly when I would ovulate.

I guess only you and your partner can decide when to take the 'next step' and start investigating further. I wish you all the best - don't give up! x x

Get to the doctor we were told we had to be trying for at least 18 months before GP would see us (young couple ) after 18 months we went to GP had all the tests etc found out Hubby has low sperm count need ICSI treatment didn't work but anyway if we had our time again i would go to GP staright away how does he know that you haven't been trying for a few years BLAG IT.
18 months for us was a long time if we knew we had problems back then we could of gone for fertility treatment sooner and we might be in a different position due to certain things we had money back then
    GOOD LUCK

I'll just echo everyone else, relax, pillow under bum(!), ovulation kits (MSE style off Ebay of course), I conceived all 3 of ours once we booked a decent holiday and I joined Weight watchers! First took 3 years, second 3 minutes! and third 13 months, so there's seemingly no rhyme or reason to it.

I have 3 lovely sons aged 8, 6 and 4 months, all boys apparently because my husband is a boxer - wearer and i used ovulation kits, all friends say that's how you get a boy, anyone discredit the rule?! Oh, and no it;s not 4th time lucky for a girl.....

Relax (easier said than done), pillow under bum, folic acid, know your cycle i.e when you ovulate (I know as I get very bad pain), Chart your temps if you want, Check your cervical mucous etc Take a look at babycentre.co.uk the ladys on the the forums are really lovely.

I know alot of ladys that do all of the above and get pregnant, I just take folic acid and bd everyother day and it has worked ok in the past with me. I buy my pregnancy tests from accessdiagnostic.com or their sister company valuemed.co.uk. Very cheap pregnancy test and other tests.

I hope this helps and you have a big BFP soon :)
