We are 24+6 with our first baby, after about 5-6 months off the pill. This may be totally unscientific but I used to put a pillow under my legs/bottom (to tilt my body at an angle) and have a wee snooze for a few minutes to allow gravity to help!
Also, get all the sleep you can now. Although the tiny wriggles and pokes aren't hard enough to hurt (yet), they feel so strange that they keep me awake most of the night. I guess it's the novelty value as this is our first.0

            Hi All,
Hubby and I have been trying for a baby for a while, but it is not happening. I am now trying to lose weight, as that is supposed to help. Any other suggestions for things we can do to help improve our chances of falling pregnant?
 Thanks all,
 Flis
Have you tried sexual intercourse? I hear it's all the rage these days!
Sorry I've no idea but good luck! 0  0

I used agnus castus after coming off the bcp to help my cycles and I got pregnant really quickly. I have heard a lot of good stuff about it on various baby forums, and people swear by it. You can get it at Holland and Barratt.0

 So romance isn't a pre-requisite then?!
Sorry, but your post tickled me. It's true that anxiety is a barrier to conception. Friends of mine had no luck for a couple of years, so got themselves tested - nothing apparently wrong with either of them. They got despondent about it all, decided that it wasn't meant to be for them, so got themselves a dog. A couple of months later, they found she was pregnant. They went on to have 3 further children.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

I wholeheartedley recommend the Toni Weschler book too - it seems to work a miracle. I followed after having a m/c at 15 weeks and got pregnant within 2 months. my DD is 9 weeks old tomorrow......
I just lent it to my friend who's been trying for months and months without luck - I gave it to her last month - she called me on monday to say she's pregnant too!
I think it just makes you so totally aware of your cycle, it's so educating. It almost feels like it's all been a big secret that no-one told you about before!
Trying upping your zinc intake (both of you) and make sure you're taking your folic acid and getting enough iron too. Only have sex every 2 days. Lie with your legs up the wall after sex for 20 minutes! Gravity helps....
I know it's impossible not to think about it, it becomes all-consuming. The month I did conceive dd, I was genuinely 100% convinced there was no way I could have been pregnant, as we bd'd 5 days pre-ovulation, because my dh had to go away for work. So I didn't spend those days worrying about whether I was or not, as I surely couldn't be....?!
 Good luck!0

It took 14 mths to conceive my ds, and we have tried on and off for two years with no luck for mini mk 2. I bought a digital thermometer from Boots which stores your temps in a graph and fell in the first cycle of using it. Unfortunately I miscarried at 5 weeks but it made me feel in control. I initially got it as my usually punctual cycle had started messing about, and I wanted to be able to tell how long my period should be without getting excited about being 5 days late for no reason. I didn't want to start symptom spotting, and thought that if my temps went down it would show gently that I was due on and I wouldn't get such a sense of disappointment. It was helpful in that I read my body correctly, and was not as all consuming as some of the charts where you chart sleep, alcohol etc, it just gave me a rough idea. It did also go to a third level of temps when I had conceived, which was great.
It would be great if you have no idea if you ovulate and doctors can use the info as well. I wish I had started using it ages ago, although I wouldn't have done from the workd go. I think a lot of the problem is that all through your teens you have it drummed into you that it is easy to get pregnant, when for many of us is just isn't.Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early 0 0

I was watching a programme with this "expert" who was talking about conception and she explained that the key is to have loads of sex. I know it sounds obvious but an ealier poster has implied that the more sex you have, the less sperm there will be, however the male body doesn't quite work like that. It's not a reservoir that once empty, takes days to refill!
Whilst the male produces on average 280-400 million sperm per 'session' the sperm have quite a difficult tak of getting to the egg in the fallopian tube. It's not all plain sailing as some sperm are abnormal - they can't swim properly, are too slow or damaged. Some sperm get lost in the uterus swimming round and round, some choose the wrong fallopian tube and some get caught in the cervical crypts. So even though a huge number of sperm start the journey not all the sperm make it to the end.
Also, as much as women need to eat healthily, lose weight, etc, so do men. Men need to ensure that they are able to produce healthy, strong sperm.

My book has done the rounds too - my friends swear by it and at least 3 fell pregnant within months of reading it. Honestly it is all so easy, and makes such sense, I really don't know why it isn't taught at school
I also think GP's should also suggest charting when someone shows an interest in conceiving. I know I am a practical person anyway but what is 2 seconds when you wake up? After all - if you are successful you will be rudely awaken for the next 5 years LOLThe smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0

It took my mother 13 years to concieve me! She had actually given up at that point, and booked herself in to have a hystorectomy and it was only when they did a routine scan they noticed that i was inside her!
I dunno if being resigned to her fate of never having a 2nd child did anything, in terms of not thinking about it or trying to hard?
Or im here for a reason 0 0
