  • Hi,

I can't answer your question, but have you looked at Avast or AVG as they both provide free virus protection

I have had Norton for quite a few years now, very pleased with it up to now..It sometimes comes on offer for about £25,but not seen it yet this year.
I used to use AVG free before, found it ok but just thought for added security (banking etc) would use Norton.
I tried Zone Alarm once and it slowed my PC down so much i couldn't open a page..

Does your bank offer free online security software? For example, Barclays offer Kaspersky Internet Security for free to its online customers, and you can install it on up to 3 computers.
Sorry though, don't know where you can get Norton 360 cheap.

The OP has asked about a specific product that she is confident with.
We all have our particular favourite that others would not dream of using.
OP PCWorld have some good deals in their xmas sales.

This nonsense about Norton being bloated and slowing down computers is well in the past.

bloated is a relative term, norton is far better than it used to be, but features added to "sell it" inevitably use up more resources.

So does the paid version of Avast... The free version of Avast does not use much recourses because there is hardly anything on it.
There is nothing wrong with Avast but a lot of people like to have their security suite packed into one no nonsense package.

I wasn't comparing the paid for version of avast. A lot of people buy AV because they think it's better than free AV, or fall for the patter at the local PC shop, or because they think the extra features are needed, or because they always have.

The essential part of internet security products is virus protection, the rest is of dubious value and adds to the footprint.

£30's add up over the years, OP's choice.
