Well I have had a drayton digistat +2 RF for about 3 years. When I looked at the screwfix reviews that becksfaz referred to I assumed that I had an earlier model without the facility becks mentioned because I do not get the quick on/off bursts. I have the remote thermostat in my lounge not the hall where the receiver is.
However when I looked at the box I saw it was the +2 version.I cannot say I understood the Drayton explanation in one of the screwfix reviews but will now scrutinise the instruction booklet to see if it is mentioned.
One thing I agree with is that the sensor that switches the boiler does not seem to correspond with the temperature indicated on the screen, eg if set at 21 it may switch off when the screen indicates 20.5, I think that is one thing becksfaz was saying about theirs.0 -

Please let us know how your scrutinising goes...?
I wonder why yours doesn't work in short bursts like mine and some of the other reviews state, I'm envious!0 -
Interesting, particularly "meerkat's". I recognise the heat "top-up" feature described. Probably all modern electronic stats have it including the Honeywell CM907 which I have, but I have never experienced the "Drayton" behavior. Neither did my previous Danfoss behave that way.
Just had a look at this stat - lots of positive reviews. However 1 that says the stat works in 10 minute cycles - 10 mins on and then 10 mins off. Is this correct?
Surely then this takes twice as long to heat up and also in a large house/system like mine, it gives time for the things to start cooling down (as stated by the negative review I've read). Please advise...0 -

Not really. Take a look at the installation instructions, there are a lot more settings than appears to be the case with the Drayton, but I stress that the Factory Defaults are fine for a gas boiler.

The 10 on 10 off I think might come from the 6 cycles per hour (default). That is only when it is cycling. Mine does not cycle as yours does when the room is at temperature. Anyway it is not 10 min on if 10 min is not required but the required ON time (default 1 min)
BTW I use the Optimal Start mode which is an energy saver particularly in the morning.
Typically also I set a comfort temperature for about 08:00 then a slightly lower temperature for the rest of the day, then a comfort temperature for the evening. Possibly you can already do that on your Drayton. If you did I think you would reduce your cycling without feeling unduly cold during the active part of the day.0
