What gives people the right to act like an animal!

Hi all

Just a quick rant as I'm so mad.

OH was attacked at work last night by a customer.

He ended up in hospital with whiplash, bruised ribs, minor lacrations and other bruising.

He is a general manager in a pub. He was serving on the bar when a customer accused him of shortchanging him. My OH took the till off re-counted it and it was correct. Another member of staff also did a till check and came to the same outcome. OH advised the bloke of this and he seemed ok. The bloke then finished his drink walked up to my OH and punched him in the face!

OH and another member of staff managed to get him out of the pub but both got hurt in the process.

When did the world get so rubbish that people now feel it is acceptable to act like this :(

Just makes me so mad. OH works bloody hard like the vast majority of people with having to deal with the like of that :(

Yep police turned up quite quickly and were really good apparently.

They caught up with the guy and he has been arrested.

They are coming back today to take another statement and sort some other stuff out.

  • He sounds like a numpty but do not rule out he could have mental/alcohol problems.

It is a bit of an occupational hazard though isn't it. I'm not saying that the bloke wasn't totally out of order but if you work with the public when they've had a skinful you can expect anything.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

    Peace, love and labradors!

So that makes it ok then does it?

The shame is that the attacker will probably receive no punishment whatsoever as in this country being drunk is seen as mitigation rather than an aggravating factor.

I know it's crap but in these situations I've trained myself to think that the world and people in it are what they are, you can't control them so try not to fret. You can only control your own actions. I find this attitude helps me...
  • Is there a "pub watch" type of scheme in the area where the pub is?

If so and the person concerned lives in the locality, getting them banned from all of the local bars might affect them far more than anything the police & courts do.

Not OK, but this is a business that principally makes a profit from selling a mind altering drug. Is it any wonder some of the users do not behave as they might normally do?

What makes you say that? Do you honestly think that the police will do nothing about an assault that put someone in hospital?
