She's out and in recovery now. Everything seems to have gone well but not been told anything really.

Looks like it will cost £400 or more to fix the car and as we only paid £450 for it, it's not worth it and we are so gutted because it was an ideal car for us and we just could not afford to loose the money it has cost to buy it. God knows what we are going to do now

That is some hopeful news at least.

Real pain about the car though.... :(

    Hi tiger,

It does sound very encouraging; our thoughts are with you.:A

I'm sure the car won't cost that much if it's only a clutch problem. Small things tend to get out of proportion when you're really concerned about something else.

Keep believing; sometimes it's all we've got,

    Morning. :)

I hope you've had some more 'definite' news since last night Tigerfeet, and that things are still looking hopeful.

    Morning chaps,

Thank you so much for your messages.

MIL is in ITU but DH has spoken to her. She is there because she is dehydrated because the operation took 5hours instead of 2 hours and she lost lots of blood. They are still concerned but it is looking better.

Our friendly mechanic has broken his arm :( so can't help us :(. Have rung round and the earliest someone can fit us in is the 7th Feb and it will cost £330 approx. to fix. So the dilema now is to look for a cheap runabout or do we get the car fixed? The Renault is the perfect car for us so I don't know what we will do. Upside is we will be able to borrow MIL's car  for a while.

  • Glad to hear MIL is doing well.

I'd ring ALL the garages and get loads of quotes before writing the car off.
Also, i used to have a mobile mechanic do my motor and he was great and cheap (no massive overheads) check your local phone book to see if there are any. Its a lot less hassle too as they come to you.
The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(

Hi TF - at least if you get it repaired you know that's one less thing that can go wrong with the car. If you looked for another car you may be 'buying' the same problem.

    Quick update on MIL.

She is doing well and spoken to a specialist who is quite happy with her. She is going to have chemo to make sure they have got everything and to blast the abnormalities they found on her liver. If the liver does not improve then she will have to undergo another op. She is hoping to be out sometime next week if all goes well. So now we play the waiting game.
