Insists that she payed over £2100 for the holiday & Her ex husband is now sending veiled threats if I don't pay .
Are you saying that this holiday in Cyprus on S/C basis is costing £2100 for 2 people?
Does anyone else think this is expensive on the basis of the facts we have been given?
When is the departure date?
Her saying she's paid £700 for a £2100 holiday doesn't ring true to me.
Wouldn't she either have paid a deposit (which is unlikely to be 25% of the total cost i.e. £700) or would have had to pay in full if the departure was within 10 or 12 weeks?
Sounds fishy and unbelievable to me.0 -
Agree with all the others, ignore her threats and have nothing else to do with her. Her ex husband will know her for what she is so I would take what she says about his involvement with a huge pinch of salt as well.
Oh and now that she's demanding half the cost that must mean the balance is due. If she's paid the balance well more fool her. If she hasn't and she cancels quick then she loses only her deposit.
Either way, not your problem.0 -
Thomson ask for around a 15% deposit upon booking and then the remainder 10 weeks before departure. I imagine the other agents are similar. Her saying she's paid £700 for a £2100 holiday doesn't ring true to me.

But yes, this sounds fishy and unless the OP has a specific reason for remaining friends with this person then I'd start ignoring her.0 -
Cut her out of your life. Avoid her, block her calls, keep evidence of the threats and go to the police if necessary. She is not "lovely"! You told her you couldn't afford the holiday, she booked it anyway and now she's demanding the money and having someone threaten you! Also the fact that she wanted to spend over 5 K before she goes bankrupt shows her dodgy character, this could be another of her scams. Do not give her any money! Protect yourself, practice being assertive and work on building a strong support network around you so you are not susceptible to false friends.0
