I once had the biggest self-tapping screw I've ever seen in one of my tyres. Take it into a tyre depot (KwikFit, National, etc.) ASAP. If it is in the main tread of the tyre and not in or near the sidewalls, it can probably be repaired. The only thing this will affect is the maximum speed rating of the tyre, but as yours is "H" (130mph) to start with, the reduced rating is almost certainly still going to be over 70mph!
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

Thanks for all your help, I'll take it in tomorrow and see if it can be repaired and take it from there I've also got a guide price off the net if I need to replace it so I know if I'm being ripped off.
ajsdoc... I can't put the spare on as its this new thing with BMW that they don't provide one as you can drive on a flat for 50 miles or something??? As I said earlier I'm a girly girl so this info might not be strictly correct but I definately do not have a spare and my car is only 12 mths old and didn't come with one

It may be repairable, but it will depend on the position of the damage, and the size of the hole it made. If it's in the middle of the tread as you say, you might be lucky. I can't remember the maximum hole size they will repair, but it's about 5mm. Qwik-Fit will inevitably say it needs replacing, as they'd rather sell you a new tyre. Take it somewhere else. ;)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

It should be repairable, for about £10 to £14 including rebalancing afterwards.

Just take a look at it in the morning before driving, and pump it up a bit if necessary, as if it's driven when nearly flat that will wreck most tyres by rubbing against itself inside (possibly including run-flat ones that you mention).

If you order via blackcircles, go to https://www.blackcircles.com/msn and get yourself a £5 voucher off a tyre! Should make it a bit cheaper! :)
