Miserable places

I shortly have to visit a cold, damp miserable country for a few weeks where many (not all) of the inhabitants are very grumpy an lack a sense of humour, any suggestions to help me cope?
I know it's only for a few weeks and then i'm off to the sun for the rest of the winter but I'm dreading it.

It might be cold and damp here but most of us are not at all grumpy :beer:0

Hard to advise as you havnt been specific.
I've been to 2 miserable places, one in particular had very miserable inhabitants - Vienna. Stayed for a week, don't remember that much about it so I suppose I only coped by regular bouts of heavy drinking.
We killed 2 birds with one stone that week and took a day trip to Bratislava, the second most miserable place I've visited (though I hear its quite good these days?). I remember that very well!
Don't forget to take your gongle with you, you can always play with that!0 -

Thanks, the heavy drinking sounds a good idea but this place I'm going is expensive for booze. (Gongle packed)0 -

Until you mentioned 'country' I thought you were referring to Sunderland!0 -
