Help looking for a 'proper' USB Cordless VoIP Phone for Laptop

Hello,

I would like to buy a cordless usb voip phone for my laptop but the whole skype craze is making this difficult. I want a phone that I can use with any VoIP provider and that works with the SIP protocols, not one that only works with Skype or that requires any of these stupid diallers to work - so more of a hardware based 'phone'. Obviously it needs to be compact to fit in my laptop backpack.

I was thinking of something along the lines of maybe a small USB receiver and then the telephone itself, the telephone plugs into the receiver to charge up. All the standard features, with the 'true' ability to dial numbers and initiate calls from the phone, mute, hold, etc.

Sitecom make one, but I'm not sure how good it is, and would appreciate any other suggestions for products to look at. Again this is for my laptop.

Thanks.

Hi, and thanks for the suggestion. that link isn't working for me at the moment, but I'll keep checking. I'm also not looking for a WiFi phone, as it's only usable where there's a WiFi hotspot. Also, as I'm partially sighted, having difficulty seeing the screen would discard many of the visual features. I'm looking for a phone with the features mentioned above, compact size (important for both transmitter and phone) and cordlessness.

Hi, I really don't mean t come across all dismissive, but this looks more complicated than it's worth - all the extra cables and I'd have to buy a separate phone, plus my cordless DECT phone has a base and well you get the picture.

I was thinking more along the lines of a small transmitter and the phone in the same package, no cables (except to connect the phone to the transmitter for charging), and just for voip (don't need any PSTN facilities).

Hi. Does this work with other voip software such as voipdiscount and voipbuster?

    Thanks in advance

not sure to be honest, as I haven't used it ages,
but it worked fine for me with a normal cordless house phone,
so that I could use skype cordlessly,
it is for skype and not anything else,
    so I would imagine so,
read the links I posted about it,
