being a ex-virgin customer, I was on the £7 deal which included the unlimited aka 1Gig per month. The problem with this is that the fair usage policy got in the way. I wanted the 1gig when I needed it (actually was using under 100 meg a month) but t&c only gives a free max 45 meg a day, so ended up paying.

Secondly about tethering, some phones will let your phone provider know you are tethering, while others will not. Apparently there are some apps that do not inform your carrier how you are using your data.

Well, got my son's £17/mth SIM from Virgin Saturday, stuck it in my wife's unlocked G300 (ooeerr), tethered it to the laptop and hit youtube. Several HD viewing sessions later checked the online account and loads of internet sessions recorded but a nil balance at the side of every one so tethering would deffo appear to be allowed. No effect to the data allowance either so it truly is unlimited. Billy bargain.

Your guide is useful for those searching for 1 month or 1 year+ contracts, but it is very difficult to search for a sim free phone.
