Who to complain about offensive junk mail?

Fine and dandy but the leaflet explains how the content is very explicit, about "a drug addict who will do anything!!! to feed her addictions."
The leaflet explains how it's not acessable thru google or bing (prob due to it's explicit nature?) and gives a step by step guide how to access it online. It says over 18s only and not to access if easily offended. Also says the first 6 chapters are available for free now but will be withdrawn soon for "being too explicit".
What is explicit about that? That is merely a hint/ implication/ nudge wink which wouldn't mean anything to younger children. Is there something ruder that you are telling us?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Given that you admit this, it's somewhat puzzling that you go on to say:I can't believe that a poster who shows concern for impressionable children in her neighbourhood is being told effectively to butt out.
It sounds to me like you're well aware that your own values are very different from those of most people in our community, which is fair enough; everyone is entitled to their opinion. Yet you seem to think that everyone should comply with your views and those of the OP. Why is that?"There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0 -
I also think that you are overreacting. The title of your thread is misleading, as the leaflet itself did not contain anything offensive or explicit.0

If I am fortunate enough to have children one day I will make strident steps to emigrate before it is time for them to start school. It is becoming increasingly clear to me that this isn't the sort of society I want my child to grow up in. There is a soullessness and a selfishness that is so widespread, very little in the way of common values, shared goals, urghh...I feel parents should be pulling together to build a better society for their children, instead their values often seem completely at odds to my own. Think of something explicit and Google it. You'll find it. Pretty much however explicit you can think of, I'd bet you'll find it.
So either this story is so explicit that it needs to be reported to the police, or the reason it's directing you to the story this way is not to bypass a filter.
I'm interested, now.
What could they be on about?
Even if something doesn't come up on a google search you can just simply type in the web address to the page. Why did the flyer need to give instructions?
Is it just to make it sound more "explicit" and exciting than it really is?
Or do you think it's some sort of scam - cashing in on the Fifty Shades phenomenon to encourage people to go through some sort of phishing site?1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31

Hi all, who can I complain to about offensive junk mail?
Me and my neighbours got a leaflet dropped through the letterbox yesterday which I wasn't very happy about, promoting a local writers new e-book.
It directs you to the website where you can read the first 6 chapters of her graphic novel for free.
Fine and dandy but the leaflet explains how the content is very explicit, about "a drug addict who will do anything!!! to feed her addictions."
The leaflet explains how it's not acessable thru google or bing (prob due to it's explicit nature?) and gives a step by step guide how to access it online. The only reason it won't show up in google is probably nothing to do with the content (in terms of it being explicit), it will be to do with whether it can be found when searched. The author has probably found it doesn't show up very high in the rankings - so it will be more to do with whoever designed her website. When you consider how competative pornography is on the internet - she's going to struggle to get anywhere unless she has some work on her site.
6 chapters free but soon to be withdrawn because it's explicit - desperation from the author. "Oh quick i better look at it - it might be withdrawn." The same reason she's doing leaflet dropping.
I'm not easily offended "Shades of Grey" and all that, but I think dropping this leaflet through the door of houses with children is just wrong! So your child goes to the door first and gets the leaflet, the temptation is there, with a step by step guide how to access the material bypassing Google & Bing's filters
I don't htink this will just bother people with children
Surely putting this material through someone's door is not allowed? Am I over-reacting? Was just shocked that you get this thru the door.
If you're not happy contact oft. I personally think it's in poor taste to market something this way. Otherwise Anne Summers would be at it - "come and look at our sexually explicit website." I think the authors attempting to jump on the band wagon. Whether or not people think it's appropriate - it's just going to offend too many people. Personally, rather than leaflet dropping, I'd be looking into other options if I were the author - chances are you're not the only person who's a bit cross something like this has been put through her letter box.
Of course she could be doing some sort of publicity stunt - would make a great daily mail story - I can see the headline now.MSE Forum's favourite nutter :T0 -
Probably doesnt come up high in the google search due to the tons of !!!!!! already on the internet with more money put into them although not sure why it doesnt just say the website address, but saying something will be withdrawn soon - thats just a marketing trick.
And if a child wanted to look up an erotic book they could type it in google and find it in about 5 seconds. Im not sure what filters youre thinking of.0 -

Really? Sounds like turning safe search off to me. Why on earth would a bit of explicit literature not be on google when some !!!!!! sites are?
I suspect that the audience the books are aimed at are not especially computer savvy and wouldn't necessarily know how to turn off safe search, nothing more sinister than that.
I'd say this was an independent author promoting a 50 shades style book on the back of the hype from that. Thats all, nothing sinister. You can probably find more graphic stories on Fan Fiction.net!0
