Just wondering if any of you have any suggestions/preferences for who to register your domain with and who to host it.
ukreg and 123-reg seem quite popular but both want to charge extra for the likes of emails.
Thoughts/suggestions?
Im not really tech savvy as such, but i do remember godaddy supporting sopa so are there any other hosts like them i should be avoiding.
Thanks in advance for any reply!

I've been with www.compila.com for many years without any problems.0

The charge 123 make regarding email is for hosting it. You can use any hosting you like including free stuff like gmail and route your emails to that using the 123 DNS control panel at no extra charge over and above the domain registration charges.0

I purchase through 123 Reg and host elsewhere.
One thing to note with 123 Reg, they're a bit scummy with certain domain name TLDs. I had a .at domain name and they didn't give me an option to renew at end of year (like you do with other domain name TLD as .com, .co.uk etc) - I ended up getting a letter through the post from the .at registrars solicitors telling me to pay close to £200 in fees due to no payment.
If 123reg had made me aware, like they do with all other domain names I have, this would not of been a problem what so ever! So, beware if purchasing domain names like this from those guys.My son is now an ‘entrepreneur’. That’s what you’re called when you don’t have a job. – Ted Turner0 -
I buy from freeola, who also host the email, which I pull down into outlook.0

In another forum I used a company called Vidahost kept coming up highly recommended for both price and support. You may want to try them. They would certainly be better than 123 or 1&1.

Just avoid Britishnic
I have a domain with them, renewal expensive, wanted to migrate off them but they don't answer emails and have no phone contact.0 -
Support from 123-reg is shockingly bad, but they are fine for domain registering, inexpensive for parking and redirection.
However, I have some hosting with them and would never recommend their hosting.0 -
123-reg are my choice for domain registration (and I have far too many)
You can either mess around with DNS or alternatively with most webhosting including email you'd just change the nameservers to your webhost rather than having to change half a dozen settings.
Recommendations for webhosting annoy me because not all sites have the same requirements and it is absolutely insane to restrict your solution to that which is supported by your host rather than designing your solution that meets the "business requirements" and then find a host that is capable to support the solution.... most seem to think that the tail should wag the dog though0 -
I use Relichost, provide everything I need for about £12.00 a year.
I have my own domain name and Relichost allow me up to 999 email accounts.0 -
