Son has ran out of cash

My son has just moved out and is renting for the very first time. He not only moved out but moved towns so there's 300 miles between us. But he's just called to say he's ran out of cash and has no food in the house. I can't transfer money to him as he's over his bank account limit...I'm trying to look past the disappointment and find a practical and quick way to help him - does anyone have a practical solution they can suggest? I'll be sending him a supermarket gift card tomorrow but that will take a day to get to him by first class post. Hes in full time work so i dont think the DSS will/can help him.
Oh and apologies Ive only ever viewed this site so I might have placed this in the wrong part.

Isn't there someone who stays with him that you can send the money to?

Oh and tell him to stay away from PAYDAY loan companies unless he wants to stay skint or in debt.

How does his wages get paid if hes overdrawn?

Which town? We could find him a soup kitchen for tonight.

What's he done with his money? Beer, fags and fruit machines?

Agree with the online supermarket delivery for tomorrow. He can do without food for one night...
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

As emergency measures: ring a local take away and order him a hot meal. Set up a Milk and More account for delivery of breakfast items, and do an online shop for tomorrow. He does need to get his act together though.
  • Has he got a colleague/friend to borrow £5.00 from? And/or a work canteen he can get a meal from?
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

  • Just had to order food for my son online - at least I know he'll be eating (he is a uni student who can not manage money) It is hard being so far away!
  • If you want to order him a takeaway for tonight, try https://www.just-eat.co.uk or https://www.hungryhouse.co.uk

Western Union/Moneygram (the latter at any Post Office) is a possibility, even if expensive in fees
  • Thank you all so much....the online shopping order never even occurred to me. I'll do that now. Once again thanks
