    ^^^^ My thoughts exactly, how can you have missed this huge thread?! MSE competitive behaviour starts with toughing it out around a candle in the winter and boasting how little the CH is used.

    When it starts to snow, you can light it!

    I've been scraping my car windscreen in the mornings the last 3/4 nights so yes! the heating is on!

  • Most definitely yes! It's not so much the cold I cannot stand its the dampness. When I have to wipe the water from the windows in the morning I know it is time. Damp and condensation can do a lot of damage to your home so bear that in mind.

    Never have heating on at night (after bedtime) - the heatloss to the outside is greatest then (due to difference between indoor and outdoors temperatures.

    Use a 13.5 tog duvet and a hottie and you will be toastie warm.
