I think they are trying to tell us that the prices will go up but because you have a discounted rate you will not pay as much but you will pay more because before you had a discount of 8.7% on their standard direct debit rates but as they have put their prices up by 7% okay there is 1.7% difference but I would prefer the 8.7%

there is NO increase on the energy saver online 20, these latest prikes hikes advertised at 7% dont apply to those on this tarriff, checked on website, and also got it confirmed by customer service.

When you`re next on the board maybe you could tell us why SP went from OES14 to OES20 in one year, with each tariff being higher than the previous.

Isn`t this in effect price increases by the backdoor, on top of the latest "annual" increase of 7%.

If I had switched to OES19 when my OES14 expired at the end of Aug. I would have been hit with this latest 7% increase on top of all the other increases between OES14 and OES19.

Not only are you having "annual" increases, every time you bring out the latest follow-on tariff, this is also an increase.

Aren`t you just ripping off the public for your own greed of profit.

yup totally agree with you, every energy company that releases new tarriffs, the prices ALWAYS raise, people dont realise that this is infact a price hike in itself, its just another way for energy companys to make more money sadly.

Because we have burnt the majority of North Sea reserves in the last 30 Years, by definition the balance of supply is now owned by foreigners.

Fortunately the 5,000,000, Norwegians are reasonable and friendly and the Scots have yet to vote for independence.

I wonder what if feels like to live in a bidonville and discover the choice is gather wood because you cannot afford to cook let alone heat.

SP bought out a 3.5 yr fixed tariff in Summer 2011 - prices fixed til 1 Jan 2015. I took this up and see that the only better deals I can get now (via energyhelpline search) are a couple of tariffs from small suppliers.

I'm surprised people didn't snap this up, as anyone could predict that prices would just go up and up in a silly fashion given the greed of the power companies, their strong cartel, the toothless and captured regulator and a less-than-useless UK government.......

I used to think that energy bills were something minor, not worth considering, until recently. I am very well off, and so all this is not a problem for me, but I am terribly concerned that more than 10% of the population is in fuel poverty, and that this percentage and the hardships they face will only increase

Knew it would only be time...
My crystal ball made me change onto online fixed price January 2014 a few weeks ago and a couple of months before my tariff ended.
It was a gamble at the time but seems I did the right thing to fix.
Depends on how the Winter pans out. I seem to remember that the mega-winter similar to 2010 - 11 predicted last year never arrived, and in Jan this year the energy companies were scrambling to reduce prices

Members on "The weather outlook" forums, are also stating a very freaky mild spell in a week to 10 days, with daytime temps over 20c which incidentally also happened last year so who knows whether this winter will follow the relatively mild one we had last year. I really hope so as the energy companies deserve a good shafting, and karma works quick these days so these latest price rises may just come back and bite them on the @rse

If we have a heavy winter with further increases, then its the right decision, however if we have the 2nd mild one in a row and prices get slashed then you are going to be paying over the odds for a while to come. Its down to luck and the weather gods.

In the meantime i'm going to get a little Scottish Power doll, and stick pins in it
