Then you are lucky you had a patient vendor. Why did your mortgage take so long? Instructing a solicitor is usually one of the first things you do when your offer is accepted.0 -
That is crazy!! Sounds like a time waster. We offered on a property & once accepted, we instructed out solicitor by the next morning.0

When we recently bought our property the estate agent would not take the house off the market until we had
1) proven that we had the deposit in the bank
2) proven that we had a mortgage offer in principle
3) instructed a solicitor
I would put the house back on the market now- if he really wants the house this will shock him into action- if he walks away at least its now and not a week before exchange as happened to me in the past.
And at least you know your house is desirable if you received an offer you felt able to accept so quickly- good luck0
