Baby *carry* harness recommendations?

I have a Tomy baby carrier and an Ergo, I love both but I find the Ergo brilliant for the 18mth old if I am only going to be going somewhere short or on the bus, as most of the time the bus is not a low floor one.
The Tomy was quite expensive but managed to get it for the bargain price of about £12 when boots was having a sale..Of all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most£2,960 in debt to RBS paying off at £10 a Fortnight0 -
A Kari me (or any stretchy wrap sling) is really, really easy to tie. But, it looks like complex origami...!!!
Honestly though, if you get one, and spend 5 mins copying an instruction video on you tube, you will be able to put it on and off within seconds. We used to tie it all up before going out in the car, drive off with it under our coat, baby in car seat. Then when we got to where we were going, it was already on and tied, ready to go. No faffing around with buckles and straps.
Believe me, it looks hard to tie a stretchy wrap sling but once you try it, you will be totally converted.0 -
Thanks freda. I'll pop on the pc and check some videos out.
Thank you to everyone else too. I have been checking out what you've said you've bought. Got just over 9 weeks until my little squirmy makes an appearance... hopefully. So plenty of time to weigh it all up

There is a sling library in Caerphilly if you can't find one closer (I'm sure there will be) PM me.
I have a moby and loved it, once he got past about 15 months it wasn't so great and was hot in summer - when he was over 6 months though dh would often put him in a backpack one (he brought it for walking up Snowdon) we've barely used the pushchair and he's almost 20 -
I carried all of my babies - front until 6 months, then back.
This is a big overview:

You can make a lot of them - follow the links or google to find instructions.
I find that once they are sitting well, the rucksack type is the best. Keep an eye open on ebay/freecycle/NCT nearly new, but otherwise, ask family to get one as a gift (that is what we did)
As for wheelchairs: some mums like to carry little babies for the closeness, but older ones can be put in a push-chair attachment. They used to be provided for free, I don't know the current arrangements.0 -
Thanks for that link jackyann! Very useful. I'd still be petrified that my knots would slip lol.

Thank you from me too! Am currently lusting over a Kari-me or a Calin Bleu. I do have a mei tai to progress to when baby gets too big. Nice to know the stretchies aren't as scary looking as the pictures!0
