Baby *carry* harness recommendations?

I have a napsack baby mei tai carrier which DS loved when he was small. he's not so keen now as he wants to walk everywhere or be pushed in his buggy when he's tired.
And now thanks to freda I really want a Kari-Me wrap, lol. In MSE fashion will someone talk me out of it when I have a perfectly decent carrier at home and don't need another one!!0 -
Between Swansea and Cardiff mildred. Which should be convenient lol. The midwives I've seen haven't been very forthcoming with information, though I'm not the type to ask anyway.0

I'm also interested in this thread because I'm a wheelchair user so a carrier is better suited to me than trying to connect the pushchair to the wheelchair (I can't self-propel) and DH push us both so having a carrier means that I can have baby and DH can push me.:)2019 Wins

You could try one of these, the picture made me laugh.
I had a snuggle babe sling which was fab.

I've just invested in a Connecta sling which I bought from Petit Poppet (you can google them). They actually offer an online sling library service so you can try them before you buy, I tried the Connecta and a Manduca and the Connecta was just fantastic, really simple to use and doesn't hurt my back at all. I can second what others have said about the frog leg or M position for the baby, the Baby Bjorn type carriers don't put the baby into this position, the legs hang straight down which isn't good for the joints (also facing out has the same problem).0

I second the Kari-Me. I put two children through my old one and finally gave up carrying the last at a little over 18 months....I then swapped to a simple stroller/push-chair.
I did originally have a modern harness from Mothercare, but found it hurt my shoulders and back too much. The Kari-Me was a revelation because it spreads the weight across the shoulders and chest. The baby is snuggled close to the body, often sleeping with an ear against the chest above the breast which seems to be particularly soothing. I wouldnt consider anything else now.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Can you speak to wheelchair services as when I saw them (both my kids have disabilities and I need a special needs double buggy) they mentioned that if DD was older and DS was younger there would have been baby carrier seats available that attach to a wheelchair. Not sure of the details but thought it may be a help.
Sorry to hijack.
As for slings I carried both mine in a Calin Bleu wrap sling til they were about 9 months. I could even hike with one of them in it was so comfy - I used the simplest wrap that crosses over the back. Then for short distances I just used an ordinary scarf across me (think long handled handbag) with DD til I was about 5 months gone with DS so she would have been 21 months and big at that, one leg through it and it just supported her bum and took some of the weight off for a hip carry - also meant I didn't have to stick my hip out like you do which is really bad for your back. After DS was 9 months - had to use the double buggy all the time as it was too awkward carrying him and pushing DD.0 -
I used a close baby carrier, a stretchy jersey type. Bulky but comfortable. Bought second hand and managed to sell on st some price so :yay:Bossymoo
