Any iphone replacement for kids?

I would like to buy something which would help get my sister's iphone away from my tiny tot. He is a nightmare when it comes to her going home, and when he is around my parents he makes a bee line for her room.

Something that is touch screen and a low price (max £40).

Would I be able to add apps? buy attachments? buy games to work on it? access the net?

Off to have a look on Argos, but would love any help to guide my choice.

Many thanks in advance

Don't think you can get it for £40. You would probably get dirt cheap android phone for £50 or tablet for £60
  • you can get a innotab but they are more ipad size or you could look for a cheap ipod maybe first gen on ebay.
would he play with a ds?
  • Original Leappad Explorer from last year won't be much more than £40 iirc about £50 in a few places... or try ebay!

Put it on a shelf he can't reach! I can't believe the OP didn't think of that. Then interact with your kid rather than letting him be babysat by an electronic gadget!
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

    Peace, love and labradors!
  • Hmm, How tiny is this tot?

ekky thump, no way would I let a toddler (assuming that's what we're talking about here) play with my phone. Apart from the risk of dropping, I don't think they do well when dribbled on ;). we are talking about a piece of kit costing £300-£500 pounds here.

I know what has happened tho' at some point the sister has shown the toddler her iPhone, and of course he's enthralled by the bright light and the fact that you can get songs/squeaks/chasey games from it.

Seriously tho' Sayahu, I wouldn't buy a very young child any type of electronic kit. Plenty of time for that later, (I say this as the mother of a 13 year-old who is obsessed with his PC, and desperate to be given my old iPod touch- he's trying to earn the right to borrow it at the moment). Your child needs to learn how to entertain himself first WITHOUT screens and electronic games, believe me.

If your sister is happy to let him play with her iPhone when she is there, fine. It really won't do him any harm to learn that he can't have it (or something like it) all the time.
If you really can't stand the fuss your little one makes when his auntie goes home and takes the phone with her, then ask her not to get the phone out at all when she is with you.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

I completely agree....'Tiny Tots and smartphone should not be used in the same sentance, otherwise your sister will be on the forums soon saying someone has run up a bill on her iphone for several hundred pounds...

Or... "My nephew/neice has broken my iPhone - is this grounds to cancel my contract?" :rotfl:
