New to Opera?

That sounds a bit unusual - and it doesn't happen for me anyway, so I have to assume that my First Direct connection is not secure using Opera. I would have thought that the https should show all the time you are connected securely.
It doesn't show all the time unless you toggle the main toolbar in the view menu. This is probably because you are looking at a window within a window and the default is not to show it . The main home page remains as http but the sub windows show https.
I have no doubt that I have a secure connection.

Hello,
I've just started using Opera as IE became very slow.
According to Opera's help, it is possible to use a shortcut to mark a thread as read then move to the next thread. The shortcut key is N. I have enabled shortcuts but this doesn't seem to be working. Am I missing something or does this work on emails, as opposed to threads on a message board?
Thank you for any help

Opera do have their own forum BUT, judging from the questions I have asked there, they have come over to me as a bit "unwelcoming? posh? over educated?" I can't put my finger on it. When an odd reply has come through, I have ID'd the poster and they don't seem to be of our league. So I have left and ask away elsewhere. There are plenty of Opera users out there who are ordinary folk. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I was a bit confused with what you were asking. I see you are referring to a shortcut in Opera Mail application where N marks a email thread as read - see http://help.opera.com/Windows/12.00/en/keyboard.html
I don't use Opera Mail at all so can't help directly, but it should work. The correct place to ask is indeed in the Opera forums under the Opera Mail sub forum:

I thought you were trying to mark threads as read in forums such as this - obviously it won't work here..
Used Opera for many years, there really isn't any other browser...0 -

Try 'k' - btw it's not case sensitive.604!0 -
If you find v12 being a pain on occasion, just install a later v11 over the top of it, available from filehippo. I've done this a couple of times until issues with a newer version have been ironed out, and there's no need to uninstall the currently-installed version first, therefore keeping your bookmarks and settings

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

I've been using Opera since version 6, and I don't like the changes that have happened since v9 but obviously have been forced to upgrade as sites don't work. I managed to get my v11 to function just like my old one, but v12 is a massive step down. On the mac they have removed the Main Bar, for goodness sake, and santander internet banking won't let me log on either. I can't log on to topcashback with v12 x64 on windows or mac. I can't understand why this even happens now that nobody designs sites for IE6 any more.0

Both Santander and TCB work ok for me on V12 with W7 64.604!0

Someone has sent me a couple of short video clips via yahoo email. Ideally I want to keep them and send to my Picasa, but I don't know how to. Remember I use Opera. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
