He wouldn't do that as his daughter has cats who go in his garden and he watches them if she is away so I have peace of mind there, still want to nip it in the bud though !

Is there a small part of your garden you could make more appealing for your cat to go to?

My cat used to go next door, my neighbours never said anything but their garden is lovely and I'm sure they didn't like it, so I dug over a small area in the bottom of our garden, and put a bit of wood leaning against the fence, my cat loves to sneak in under the wood and do her business undisturbed, and everynow and then I can go and clear up that part of the garden .. peace all round :)
A heap big thank you to everyone who posts the comps, your all stars!

Proud to of never used or felt the need to use a chain of any sorts on a puppy
  • kaela is right- its a lot easier to encourage your cat to use your garden instead if you dig over little patches- cats usually adore freshly dug soil- the piece of wood as well is even better (mental note to myself to rember that good idea). Even try a few outdoor littertrays filled with soil.

  • If you have a dog, the dog may be putting off your cat doing his business in your garden by trying to shove its nose under your cat's bottom as he's trying to go- in which case make sure that the cat's little dug up patch is where the dog cant get.

The pup chases the cat out our garden, plus our garden is pretty boring, all grass at the back, paving at the front and some plant pots with nothing in them but soil. I hate gardening.... :(

Be very careful with cocoa mulch, it contains theobromine (same as in chocolate) which is toxic to cats and dogs.

Maybe that could be the focus of your puppy training for a while? Stop chasing the cat.

I think your cat needs a little bit fenced off- cant say I'd want to go to the loo if there was a chance somebody would start chasing me just as I settled down .

  • A lot of cat owners will recommend using Lion Dung pellets to keep cats out of area's they are not wanted.

To be honest I don't want him going outside at all, he has a litterbox that is cleaned daily. :( Going to try keep him in more.
