Hello,
I'm interested in buying a Freeview recorder and have spent most of the morning researching them on Amason and every single one in my price of £100 or less seems to have HUGE issues according to the reviews. Are they really that big a problem? Has anyone got one which they can recommend?
Ideally I would like to have a USB port etc too.

I have a Humax PVR9300T. Really love it, no issues. Check out the managers specials here, great prices: https://humaxdirect.co.uk/prodCat.asp?cat=factory&type=stb0

You one of the lucky ones
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1694614 and I am sure a quick Google check would show many more.
OP all PVRs have issues, some more than others. Generally speaking Panasonic, Digital Stream and Humax fare better than others.
I would suggest finding the forums dedicated to each machine and then look to see what issues owners are having. You can then decide which appear to you to be more reliable.
Usually problems that occur are related to the hard drive. If you are concerned you may want to buy a model where the drive can easily be swapped out.0 -
The 9300T had some early issues, these were mostly solved by various software upgrades. I've has no problems in about 3 years. The interface is the best on the market. If you don't want HD or YouView, then this is the one to go for.No free lunch, and no free laptop

£100 is not really going to buy a very good recorder. My advice would be to spend a bit more and buy something reliable from Sony or Panasonic. It will be better in the long run.0

I've got two Humax boxes, had them several years and never an issue. Can network them to share recorded programmes upstairs & downstairs. The HDR-FOX T2 is my favourite one
