neg for collection only

hi
i listed a an item for a friend on his new acc. i did it as they arent really internet people and i live on mine lol.
buyer wanted to arrange a courier when it states collection only .
now less than 24hrs after auction end, theyve left neg feedback saying not fair at all.
can i do anything? this is unfair to the seller i think as they now have a neg which i think isnt their fault. thanks

Invoice them for the Courier Cost + Paypal Fee as P&P & if they've not paid, open a UnPaid Item case.
If they do not pay within 4 days, you can close the UPI & the Neg will be removed.

As above, I'd get a quote for a courier, and send them an invoice.

In the mean time, respond to the neg with "item was collection only. Buyer refused to collect"

Edit: or tell them you'll allow them to use a courier, but they must specify a 2 hour time slot, and the courier must bring cash!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I think the usual advice of phone ebay but only speak to Ireland about it may be worth a go, as they wanted something not in the listing ie delivery.
  • It depends on what's meant by "buyer wanted to arrange a courier"... Why does everyone assume the buyer wanted the seller to pay for the courier?

Usually this means the buyer wants to send a courier to collect the item, which seems perfectly fair to me, so long as the item has been paid for already.

I have some items up as 'collection only' and add a note to contact me if buyer wants to send a courier rather than collect in person (so it can be packaged first). I imagine refusing to accept a courier is tantamount to refusing a collection, which would be why the buyer left a negative.

It's not unfair, you refused a reasonable request.

Very bad advice. The seller is responsible for getting the item to the buyer. If the buyer were to arrange their own courier, not only is the delivery no longer in the control of the seller, but the buyer could claim item not received, and the seller would have no proof he sent/delivered it.

It wouldn't matter to me whether the buyer wanted me to arrange a courier or for them to arrange it - it would still be a massive inconvenience to me to have to package up an awkward item, wait in all day for them to collect it and then to not be covered in case of loss or damage! Nevermind the fact that if the item was listed with a postage option it would undoubtedly have gone for more.
