How would you know that? If they go round charity shops buying games to resell then they are a business. I'm sure there are plenty of businesses that sell second hand games.

I said it's unlikely that they are a business.

Your responses are along the lines of they are a business unless they can prove otherwise, which isn't an assumption you can make without a lot more evidence.

However, as the seller can't confirm to Hollie84 that all the parts were there when the item was posted I think it is unreasonable to not refund the return postage.

Confronting an unknown person is a challenge. They probably will be off guard and defensive. What are you like with cold callers?
Be polite and state who you are and what the call is about (the promised postage return cost).
Their reaction may well suprise you but don’t get into an argument and be prepared to put the phone down.

Hopefully you will get a good result but try and move on, and release yourself from any mental anguish this has caused.
    Good luck.

On the general point of how do they get the seller to pay for return email: here's a potential solution.

The seller has to pay for return email. If they don't do so within a reasonable time, then ebay would refund the buyer without requiring the buyer to return the item.

It would "work", but imagine the response on the ebay seller forums if they instituted this.

BTW: There would be some details to work out, e.g. how much is postage going to be. But if they could have an integrated postage system similar to how Amazon processes returns, then I think it would be easy to make a practically workable system.

Perhaps they could refund the same postage to return as the seller charged originally but with a minimum rate set (in case seller offered free postage etc) . It would make sellers who charge stupidly high postage think?

And cue all the lawsuits against eBay.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
