Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 14th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Up at GP o'clock this morning making tea & bacon sarnies, the things I do for love!
Anyone have any family tree suggestions, I tend to do mine in stits & fa**s, I keep forgetting where I'm up to.
Roast beef for lunch today & I'm making some lemon & lime curd too.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning FB and all who follow, bit chilly this morning and I'm not sure if it might not rain again.Watched the last episode of 'Good Cop' last night and it seems as though perhaps there maybe another series, as the end was to say the least open-ended.
Did lots of baking yesterday so the tins are all full of goodies for the children to raid.I also made a nice quiche which will do for several lunches.Last bit of cooking to do this morning I am making some carrot and coriander soup. All the prep. is done I just have to put it on after my shower.Eldest DD is coming this morning as we are expecting the second plumber for the second quote for my bathroom.I need at least wo before we decide which to go with.DD's very good at sorting it all out I just sign the cheque eventually.
Well, I feel the need of a good large cuppa, so have a good day whatever you are doing
Cheers chums JackieO xx0 -
Morning all
Stupid body clock woke me up at 6.50am as it's done everyday this week, but it does mean I get to watch the F1 live on tv, so not all bad! I'm cwtched in on sofa with cuppa, duvet and laptop.
I had a brilliant day yesterday with the uni girls. There were only 6 of us, but we had so much fun. Lunch was delicious. I had deep fried Brie with cranberry relish, and then peppers stuffed with couscous. We shared a mango cheesecake between us for desert. Lots of wine was consumed during the mealand then we went to cocktail bar
came home around 8pm as my friend who drove in offered me a lift home, which was very kind of her. I missed Strictly, but will catch up this morning after the F1. Surprisingly not too hungover today!
Todays plans include tidying the house, cinema with the girls this afternoon - going to watch Looper, and seeing my friend this evening
OS wise - dishes to wash, WM needs to go on, tidy, hoover
Have a good day all

H/H get a large lined A4 notebook and use at least two pages for info on each person before you build your tree as I guarantee you will find out lots of things on the way I am an amatuer genealogist and have apart from my own 'tree'(which has now grown to 47 pages) at least 3 other 'tree's in the process of building.(both sets of grandparents on either side .I started in 1976 with my paternal one and its still ongoing.I found relatives in all four corners of the world over the years and back in those far off days there was no internet to help It was all down to hard slog of writing letters and hours of research.Great fun though and some suprising things turn up;)Good luck0

light frost here, and our rabbit woke me up doing the thumping foot thing at 7am because there was a fox near his hutch. DS2 scared it off but rabbit kept thumping for 1/2 hr still!
DS1 staying for the weekend back from uni - lovely having him home, even if he did bring tons of washing. Going to an antique fair this morning, then will make a big roast chicken lunch.
Have a fab day allxx

Thanks JO & SC, I'm lucky as my grandfather started a family tree in the 1970's but went mainly sideways & I want to go backwards.
I've been offered a subscription as a b'day present, but not sure which site would be best. It's a bit of a joke amongst my kids that I should be easy to buy for as I have so little spare cash, but I'm also very content with what I have, so I'm actually difficult to buy for.

Not much on here today, The twins and my wife are off to church this morning. It harvest festival, My wife has made them up harvest baskets. Iv got to cut them a squash each from the garden before they go.
The twins are off to my wife's Mums and Dads after church for there dinner, Then they are off to see there great grand parents.
My wife and I are not going to have our normal roast dinner today. We will instead be having a home made fish pie.
Money is a bit tight at the moment and we do seem to have quite a bit of fish In the freezer so to save money we will have what we have In.
Well I hope that you all have a great day,
Enjoy yourselfs:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0
