Just cancelled BB and phoneline

Hi guys

Just cancelled my BB and phoneline with Sky. We originally just cancelled our TV, but we decided to just cancel the lot. I can turn my HTC Desire into a wi-fi hotspot, and its actually fast enough to run our internet requirements in the house :) Netflix etc. We actually used this while waiting for BB to be activated when we moved in to our house. My £15/m 3 Sim card gives me unlimited data. So basically, for £15/m I get my mobile phone minutes/texts and home BB. No brainer :) a bit nervous now though, lets hope it works out as a long term thing :P we NEVER use our home phone, so whats the point in paying every month for the line rental etc.

    Best of luck.

Unfortunately, "unlimited data" isn't "unlimited data" to most ISPs. Although commonly marketed as such, you'll probably fall foul of their "fair usage policy" - read the small print.

You may get away with it for a month or 2 but you'll then start receiving letters from your ISP saying they will charge around £5.00 per 500Mb over 1GB!

Be warned - If it was this simple, everyone would cancel their landline and connected costs.

"Tethering" is also against the T&C of many ISPs.

    Gaz

Thankfully I am with 3, been with them for a year and a half now, and never had any problems, and every month I clock up a hell of a lot of data through it. Their unlimited plan is truly unlimited, the other companies are not allowed to call it unlimited any more as they were actually only about 500MB per month, maybe thats what you are referring to? But the authorities that be have sorted that now so they do not get away with it.

    Hi
I do the same with my iPhone 4S as I have no landline or hard lineline BB at house, I'm also with three mobile I'd check your tarrif as far I know the only tarrif that allows data tethering (using your laptop etc off your phones 3G data connection) is the One Plan and its £25 a month. Three does offer unlimited data on lesser tariffs that do include unlimited data but this is handset used data not data you can send out via hotspot mode and they won't let you tether on these other tariffs. It normally works for a while until they notice your tethering and switch off your data as that's what happened to me before I was on the one plan which allows tethering.
    Hope this helps

    You must be lucky
I tried it for tethering and they stopped my standard three sim within a couple of weeks, Since then I switched to use my three one plan sim (30 day sim only ) and it's been fine.
    Three say -

    Tethering on your phone.
Tethering is when you connect your phone to other devices to use it as a modem so they can access the internet.

If you're on The One Plan you can use the internet when you're out and about with other devices including laptops, tablets and games consoles, just by connecting them through Wi-Fi or USB to your phone. You can tether on all our One Plan tariffs including our one month rolling SIM plan.

If you’re on one of our Pay Monthly plans, including the Essential Internet and Ultimate Internet Plans and want to tether, you’ll need to buy an Add-on. You’ll then get a tethering allowance. You can only use this allowance in the UK.

    - But hey if your sim works for tethering then fill yer boots ....

Well it works for me fine. I am technically using an add on, when I purchase a £15 top up, I then use it to buy my "Add On" Wonder if thats why mines works?
