Orange Swapables - Lack of choice

Howdy,

I recently renewed a contract with Orange. It wasn't part of my negotiated deal and I wasn't particularly concerned about having a swapable but nevertheless I received a text recently telling me that I had one because I'm now on a Panther plan.

Now I had a quick look to see what the swapables were and amongst other things there was the choice of Deezer (music downloads), Sky Sports and Live TV. Either of these would have suited me.

To cut to the chase, when I went to select on the only option I had was Russell Grant's Horoscopes which was to say the least, disappointing. I don't believe in any of that old carp so it's of no use to me.

Does anyone know why that is my only choice?

Hey, it's a Galaxy S2 so whilst it was released nearly two years ago it is still capable of running what I would describe as fairly low requirement orange apps. It runs on ICS, supports flash, decent processor. I would have thought it could handle more than Russell Grant's Horoscopes :rotfl:

Odd that Deezer isn't an option - have you asked Orange?

    You're having a laugh aren't you? :rotfl:
I spent about 20 mins on the phone, got through to an indian woman who hadn't heard of swapables, told me I must be on a different plan than Panther (although my latest bills say Panther), said she would transfer me through (presumably to second line support in UK) then the line went dead. I didn't much fancy taking up any more of the evening on the phone.

The website is next to useless for getting information about swapables as you can only select your swapable from a very poorly rendered website directly from your phone, rather than on your computer.

I assumed, as is often the case, that MSE'ers would know more about this than orange themselves :rotfl:

Not sure whether this will help, but maybe worth a try?

Will be trying this right away. I'll check back to report the outcome.

    OK!

There's good news and there's some more good news. Firstly the thread you linked to worked a treat. I downloaded the dolphin browser, changed the settings to 'trick' orange into thinking my phone is a galaxy s2 (which is exactly what it is - stupid!) and suddenly all the other swapables became available as options! That's the first bit of good news

I tried to select Deezer to be told that it's already part of my plan, so I expect I just need to download this app. That's the second bit of good news as I now get to pick another swapable. I've opted for Mobile TV.

Many thanks for all those who replied and specifically the delightful Tony from Seaham. Hopefully this thread will help others in the future.

To fix the default browser try opening it up, press menu >> Settings >> (Advanced if on ICS) then reset browser to defaults
