    DLA ~Two commponents.
One for care & one for mobility.
DEpending on your DD's difficulties/needs you could get either care or mobi;lity or both.

  • Her mobility is top notch! Thats the problem, she is so damn speedy! But the care is an issue. With 2 adults it was bad. With just me it is knackering to be honest. I am mentally and physically exhausted from it and I am not well mentally myself from the bipolar so it all takes its toll.

    Thanks Beanielou

I understand what you mean, I just think benefit wise you might be cutting off your nose to spite your face. Benefits are there for when people are in need, and it sounds like you are! You say you are in rented accommodation, surely a bit of help there wouldn't go amiss? I'm not on benefit, so it's not like I'm cynically trying to encourage you to work the system, I just think you need a hand.

I'd really recommend you make an appointment with the CAB or a local benefit surgery to see what's available. You don't have to claim Income Support if you don't want to!

Was just going to suggest CAB as well or your local welfare rights team.

  • Great advice. I am stubborn but I hadnt factored in the future relationship breakdown or my bipolar or my daughter's illness when I got in a huff over benefits. Maybe I need to reassess with the information I have now.

Went to pay in some loose change to the bank. I was so pleased to pay it into my savings account because I am saving up to offer a f&f to CapQuest. So paid in £40. However, when I got there my current account was overdrawn by £39.97 due to charges I received from last month. So I had to pay that with my new savings :( Still, this will be the last month I pay bank charges - I am determined to get a better hold on my outgoings.

NSD for me today so I am busy with the housework to keep myself from spending. Or thinking about money which seems to be my favourite past time.

On a negative note, I didnt manage any work at all last night. So plan is the same today :

    [STRIKE]K - 30 mins [/STRIKE] DONE !!!
    [STRIKE]K2- 30 mins [/STRIKE]
    L - 30 mins
    G - 30 mins

  • Managed the NSD so pleased with that.

Completely 2 jobs out of 4 - took a lot longer than 30 minutes to do each but I did them and I am so pleased I got the ball rolling again.

    Plan tomorrow

    L - 30 mins
    G - 30 mins

  • Got all daughter's birthday presents today so couldnt do a NSD but hopefully the weekend will be NSDs. Well they have to be - I have no money!

Feeling great today mentally but completely tired from a poor nights sleep so it is still a non productive day.

Both clients K and K2 were happy with the work I did for them so I am pleased it went well yesterday. Client G has changed her requirements today so I have

    L - 30 mins and
    W - 45 mins

to do today. Got 2 more jobs yesterday so will make a plan for next week to work through these too.

    Baby steps :)

  • Had a manic episode on Friday and threw away 15 bin bags of stuff from the utility room and lounge. Daughters birthday was fun so glad its over and I can get back to NSDs this month.

Had a visit from the welfare team ( thanks for the advice!) and they will be :

    * arranging someone to sit with my daughter so I can get a break
    * get someone to come to CAB with me to sort out tax credits
    * get someone to talk me through a short term plan of going on benefits with an exit strategy in place so I dont feel reliant
    * get me some cooking help so I can learn how to cook for large family on smaller budget (I know the key is bulk cooking but I cant do this with my daughter around so this may go hand in hand with the childcare they will arrange)
    * help me get more medical help and advice
    * get my eldest a counsellor ( I have been trying for 18 months but they are sorting it today)
    * even get me off a parking fine I got during a manic episode last month

Today I am feeling great so thank you for all the advice so far. I do listen :T
