I havnt tested signal strength as such, but when I plug the router into the phone extension, next to my PC, rather than the main socket in the Hallway then my sons xBox live suffers and we have had trouble connecting Ipads etc.

Oooo! theres a lot to choose from I dont need a pass through as Ive enough sockets, so that helps bring the price down.
And am I right a 200Mbps one should do my connection as 1.5mb/s is the norm for my poor connection.
    Thanks in advance

That's your line spied. What the Homeplug speed is is the (theoretical)1 speed of data transfer around the network. The actual speed will be far slower than that-but still far faster than your line.

  • Do you have a scheme like this in your area ?

Government Broadband Support Scheme. If you¹re a business, individual, voluntary or charitable organisation and your broadband connection is less than 2Mb you could qualify.

My connection was just under 2Mb I then qualified for a £1.000 grant that paid for a wireless connection.
My speed now is 8Mb upload and download.

This is the scheme we have in Wales but they are setup all over the UK

Guardsman, thanks for the info. i will look into it. That would give me faster connection but I would still have needed to sort out my home wireless connection.

AND Im pleased to say that it looks like the homeplugs Ive installed today look like a good result.
I had them out of the packet and up and running in 2 mins. I have restarted the PC 3 times and have instant connection.
  • Well done for reporting back, very kind of you and glad it's working for you!
