Christmas Eve/Christmas day/Boxing Day Menus.

Options
I have just started to work out my Christmas Day menu, and will be working on my Christmas Eve and Boxing Day menus over the next week or so.

I am in a budget, and there is only 3 of us (me, my 8yr old and my 12 yr old), so it wont be a huge one, but i like to get prepared anyway :)

Christmas Day Breakfast- Bacon butties.
Glass of Baileys

Christmas Day Dinner- Starter-Prawn Cocktail
Main-Roast Turkey
Gravy
Cranberry Sauce
Cranberry and soy glazed sausages
Stuffing
Yorkshires
Roast Potatoes
Various veg.

Thats the most important bits worked out :)

Feel free to share your ideas and menus with me, it'd be lovely to have a place to chat about it :)

I've been doing ours over the last week - a lot of it is family tradition but I can play around with some things :)

    Christmas Eve

dinner: reindeer pasta bake (traditional - Ikea reindeer pasta, jar of sauce, bag of cheese, throw in oven, eat furiously. I might push the boat out and make garlic bread as well).

    Christmas Day

    breakfast:
    egg and bacon muffin melts

    lunch:
meat (beef?) roasted with lovely veg, potatoes, gravy, Yorkshires and stuffing

    dinner:
dim sum? I would like this to be a tradition.

    26th:
We have people over for brunch on the 26th.

    pancakes with syrup/jam/Nutella
omelettes (little ones made in muffin tins)
    muffin bread
    egg and bacon muffin melts
    bubble and squeak cakes
    hash browns
    leftover dim sum bits
    jalapeno poppers
    big fruit bowl
    cake

    dinner:
leftovers, possibly pizza greens (thawed frozen spinach sauteed with chopped mushrooms, garlic and onion, then mixed with marscapone and spread on a pizza base and baked. Delicious and more than delicious).

And now to make the grocery list _pale_

I don't think I could stomach reindeer meat on Christmas Eve and my DH would almost certainly inform DD that we were eating the reindeer who couldn't keep up with Santa. I couldn't cope with a three-year-old going veggie after close of shops on Christmas Eve :rotfl:

I've been Money Tipped! Debt-free and Proud!
At the market near us, they sell reindeer burgers!
Both my children have showed an interest in trying them, but its ME that cant stomach the thought of eating Rudolph :rotfl:

I dont think the shopping list will be TOO bad....i plan on getting the majority of it in dribs and drabs in between now and Christmas, so i dont have to battle the crowds at Morrisons nearer the time.
