I've come too late to this thraed, I know, so well done OP in getting rid of your tree.
If anyone else has wood they want rid of, there's a Yahoo group called *Wood Turnaround* which matches people who have timber, with those who have chainsaws and woodburning stoves.

I have a large tree stump to the right of my lawn.
I chiselled a hole in the middle of it and placed my rotary washing line inside the hole. It's brilliant!
