    :(:(:( Dodo, how absolutely awful.

It's horrendous that some people have to suffer so much in a short time. Regarding the young mum from your dd's class, my heart truly goes out to her family and especially her poor little girls. It's difficult enough to go through this as an adult, I cannot imagine what this must be doing to them. I hope they are getting the love and support that they need. :A:A

With regards to your friend, a close family member of mine fought breast cancer 3 times. Each time successfully. That is not going to ease your mind much, I know, but I think it'd be worth remembering that they will probably be over cautious with her as she's already had it twice. Wait to see what they say, it may still turn out to be nothing to worry about. Chin up pard, I'll be thinking of you and your friend and I have my fingers crossed.

I really hope it all turns out OK for her. :A:A:A xxxx

This is a lovely helpful reply and my thoughts are also with you all x

It was always tradition to keep the top tier of your wedding cake for the first born christening cake, which in theory should be at least 9 months :D

this has just reminded me the top tier of our cake is still in storage. Our first born is due in two weeks. it's been 13 years since the wedding - dare I even open the cake box !? I wonder what the longest time you can leave one is ?

  • Brought a tear to my eye....miss my mum so much( and she was elderly when she passed away) . Memories like yours are precious.

Thanx my mum was 50, she died of cancer never drank or smoked, but she said she wouldn't die till after Christmas, sadly she had a tooth out in hospital and died from blood poisoning, before the cancer did it, the kemo had knocked out the immune system.

    Say no more.:(

    Ninth Anniversary
I remember my first Christmas cake I agreed to make it with my mum just before she died, sadly we only got to mix the fruit in brandy, but it was lovely, we even brought stout to mix in aswell, I never made it, now I buy 1 when they get reduced.

I used to love baking with my mum, but this was one I couldn't do.

But every year it puts a smile on my face, she would have laughed.

    Brought back memories for me.
My mum used to make 7 or 8 cakes every Xmas and send them to
my older brothers and sisters and give some away. When she was
not well enough I made them for her and she still sent them as if
from her. Mum died 14 years ago last week at only 68. Since then
I make 2 cakes each year. One for ourselves and one for one of
my brothers in Finland. To this day all the others think mum made
all the cakes to the end.
    Sorry for going on.:(
Smile :) and hopefully the world will smile back
