What a great post Ts. I agree with everything you have said.
Had an argument last night with oh about me being on computer a lot. I told him I'm doing it for the family to save us stacks of money and its blooming hard work keeping up to speed and getting top bargains. Then I told him since he drinks and smokes that's his vices so mine is spending time on the computer. I don't get out much at all so don't really see the problem. Doubt he would say anything if I was reading books instead x

I have had a few heated discussions with Mr TS, he says it is an obsession. :o But oddly we no longer have any arguments over money. ;)

He usually has few beers and a bottle of wine at the weekend so in the past could very easily spend between £10 and £20 pound a week as he prefers real ales. On a good week I have probably got that down to under a fiver. :)

The biggest arguments are about the lack of room in the house. Our garage is not suitable for storing stuff in as it is an old asbestos one with gaps in the rafters and a frame that is rusting so it is constantly dirty.

    Morning all

Feeling really bad today, the dog has been sick the last couple of days, her own fault she ate an onion and they always make her ill, but I'm having to starve her, she had no food yesterday and just scrambled egg today, she has spent the last 10 mins sitting where her food bowl should be crying and has now movved to the cupboard where the food is kept and is crying, I feel so tempted to give her some but know it's for her own good not to
It's the thought that counts.......I think a lot!

Oh bless her. I'm feeling really bad too and I'm not even there. You have to do what's best for her as hard as it is. Stay strong and i hope she is soon on the mend and tucking into some iams x
Cherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

oh poo that is pants, wonder why they did that?

Really? I actually think its good customer service. People had vouchers for free product that they had trouble cashing in. By sending that same product out in the post it means you get what you were entitled to with less hassle (ie you dont have to go and redeem another voucher)

No doubt someone will complain about breach of verbal contract if they were offered generic KC MOCs though :(

    Well done Costa coffee drinkers.

Sorry can't find link at moment but I was incensed to read earlier in the week that Starbucks have not paid tax in the Uk for 3 years and have only paid £15million in the last 8-15 years. They reckon they haven't made a profit in the last three years (altho interestingly they don't say this to shareholders - business good in their profit reports to them). No profit due to high franchise costs and premise lettings costs. Who gets these payments? .. Another arm of Starbucks - classed as a 'separate company'. Apparently legal but not moral - there was a time when the latter corralated but seems enterprise culture, accountants and maximum profit rule.

Compare this to Costa coffee who are a uk company (probably smaller) who pay £35 million in tax a year! Think of the public services that could have been saved or the reduction of national debt if Starbucks had paid what they owe - why are they getting an advantage our companies often don't get. If the govt is unable/unwilling to put foot down then has to be customer footfall... ditch the fleecing multinational and support our homegrown one playing by the rules. Sorry rant over ...:(

Can't comment on quality of coffee as I am a tea drinker normally ..but can't tast it at present - hopefully by end of Nov I can have a nice refreshing cuppa..:D

I saw this (can't remember what programme it was) and was shocked - I stopped going into Starbucks a few months ago but mainly because the choice of food was much nicer in Costa but also I didn't like the change to the loyalty scheme.

    Hi Jerry,

You do seem to spend a bit more when you first start shopping in the way of the Elite but believe me after a few months it totally changes. Once you have built substantial stashes of things your shopping habits change and you no longer need to do "proper" shops. ;)

And I have found after doing it for around a year, even with Mr TS losing half of his job in the middle of it, that at the end of each month we were no longer in our overdraft and few months more I actually had savings left each month. So now when something good comes up I have the money there to spend. :)

Could not have done it without all the help of everyone on MSE and I don't include just this thread as have often used deals on other threads too. But the biggest help has been from the Elite both financially and emotionally at times. :A

Good luck with finding some temping work Jerry. :)

This is so true - I think I have just reached the stage where I am starting to see savings, I have a weekly budget and I now have money left at the end of each week so I am focussing this into clearing off debt.

Hi Mrs Stinkface, I am over half an hour from newmarket road tescos ,I don,t go there often unless visiting family around there. Do you not find that store very naughty about DTD. They always seem to pretend that they have never heard of it, and i bet lots of people never get DTD from that store, unless they push for it.:)
