APG in from 9.30am shop shows cheese and Jacobs creek comparing favourably;)

The wine is an especially good deal as it compares at £4 in Tesco but is selling at a tenner in Sains and Morrisons.

    Great post tiny shoes.:)

Can't believe I used to spend over£100 a week on groceries:eek: my shopping habits are now changed for life:)

But once you have a good stash of basics you are really only topping up on the fresh stuff.

    Long may it continue:beer:

    Morning all

Feeling really bad today, the dog has been sick the last couple of days, her own fault she ate an onion and they always make her ill, but I'm having to starve her, she had no food yesterday and just scrambled egg today, she has spent the last 10 mins sitting where her food bowl should be crying and has now movved to the cupboard where the food is kept and is crying, I feel so tempted to give her some but know it's for her own good not to

Its so hard to starve them:( I find it really difficult. Can she have boiled chicken? Hope she feels better soon.
When Max the cat had to have a few ops the only way I could stop him from sitting by the food cupboard was to pit the hoover in front, he hates the hoover, and the mop, and the mower, and the loft ladder, not much he does like :rotfl:

    Well done Costa coffee drinkers.

Sorry can't find link at moment but I was incensed to read earlier in the week that Starbucks have not paid tax in the Uk for 3 years and have only paid £15million in the last 8-15 years. They reckon they haven't made a profit in the last three years (altho interestingly they don't say this to shareholders - business good in their profit reports to them). No profit due to high franchise costs and premise lettings costs. Who gets these payments? .. Another arm of Starbucks - classed as a 'separate company'. Apparently legal but not moral - there was a time when the latter corralated but seems enterprise culture, accountants and maximum profit rule.

Compare this to Costa coffee who are a uk company (probably smaller) who pay £35 million in tax a year! Think of the public services that could have been saved or the reduction of national debt if Starbucks had paid what they owe - why are they getting an advantage our companies often don't get. If the govt is unable/unwilling to put foot down then has to be customer footfall... ditch the fleecing multinational and support our homegrown one playing by the rules. Sorry rant over ...:(

Can't comment on quality of coffee as I am a tea drinker normally ..but can't tast it at present - hopefully by end of Nov I can have a nice refreshing cuppa..:D

Thanks for highlighting this. I think I will stick to Costa and M&S from now on.

i honestly cant tell you how much it has helped my nana going to be with others and having constant comany if she wants it also i thought having someone to eat with is so much better as she was giving up cooking and eating crap or just nothing which was worring now she get 3 meals a day plus she got a mini fridge in room and kettle and few essentials so if she wants privacy or watch tv in piece with tea and cake she can also the amout of activity and day trips she goes on is briiliant now i have to ring to check if she in lol:rotfl::rotfl:

also now in find i sleep better and worry alot less as i know she safe and well looked after

i would say tho she desides to go in to a care home alway turn up unanounced as that way you see them for what they realy like

after amny trips and visits to numorus ones we found one but took few months also
just rember if you make appointment they can hide the bad bits

keep me posted and if you have any other questions please ask

Thank you so much, you don't know how much your posts have helped. It does sound like her quality of life will improve, hopefully, but as you say, good idea to visit unannounced just to be sure she is in the right place. I think I was in shock because it is so unlike my mum to admit she is not coping. Up until this last year she was still game to go abroad with us and last year we took her to Bulgaria. Not this year though, she said she couldn't do it anymore :(. Anyway you have made me feel a little better and it's nice to know I have somebody to ask if there are any questions I have. I expect the coming months will tell how strong I am going to be when it actually comes down to it x
