I didn't see the photos in question, but can assume that they were decent, typical family snaps, and put forward as such. Why is this different from finding a rubbish wig pic and making a comment about needing a haircut for instance, or a pic of a nice house and car and passing them off as your own?
Parents need to remember that photos of their children posted on the internet are out there forever and can be seen and used by anyone and for any purpose. In this case it seems that they were used for a relatively benign purpose.
The owner of the bad wig would probably be quite upset to find themself an object of ridicule, but must realise that is the risk one takes when posting photos online.
If you are commenting on the fact that someone used internet pics to make themself out to he somthing they are not. How do we know anyone online is who they say they are? People use all sorts of things to make themselves seem more appealing and fit in. Sad? Quite possibly, bit not for me to say really.
It's only a game

Morning everyone
Struggled to keep up this week, but the tone of the group seems off. When I started lurking and then joined in posting it was really friendly, obviously some people had got to know each other a lot better and there were apparent cliques.
But just like starting a new school everyone was welcoming and all had a common goal to save money and share highs and lows of life with similar minded people. I know that some are now doing the same in a facebook group, but would hate to think that everyone had run away.
I've enjoyed chatting, posting about finds and sharing common issues like DD going off to uni. Please can we all stay friends??SPC 2015: #319 £10.65 / £500 Bulgaria tin0 -

Well done everyone on the cheese. I was not so lucky, on way in to T on monday went to CS to add some womble points and while there 2 SA were discussing the price and had agreed with management to take all off shelf. Also no kleenex sheets - some on counter behind CS but when asked 'there's a problem with them and we're not selling them at the moment'.
Seems like my T is eager to keep profits upSPC 2015: #319 £10.65 / £500 Bulgaria tin0 -
