Advice please re DVD drive
Comments
-
Well we purchased the new DVD drive and it fitted into PC no problem.
The games will install, but still won't play:mad:
Just get an error message - the usual send error report to Microsoft, which can't do anyway as that computer is not on the net.
Can't understand it - they are all pretty oldish games - 2000/2001 - but as previously mentioned, the computer has been taken back to factory settings so they should work OK.
Any suggestions please - Closed? Anybody?

Sorry have switched that machine off now:o
The following two games install OK, but when you click to play the message comes up saying there is an error and it has to close.

difficult to diagnose without an error message, possibly a directx or OS incompatibility problem as they are so old!!

Try running them in Compatibility modeHow do I add a signature?0

Instead of left clicking to start the game, right click instead and select 'properties.'
You should then see a 'Compatibility' tab. Select 'Run in compatibility mode' then select an OS from the list - probably WinXP or 98 even.604!0 -

Thanks, have just tried this but the most up to date OS shown in the list for these games is Windows 2000, it doesn't even give XP as an option - even though the computer OS is XP. The default OS for all of them seems to be Windows 95. Tried selecting Windows 2000, but didn't make any difference.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0
