I made these the other night and they came out yummy! If you don't have any muesli just use all oats and they'll be fine
Muesli flapjack
* 5oz / 100g margarine/butter
* 2oz / 100g brown sugar
* 2oz / 50g honey or syrup
* 4oz / 100g porridge oats
* 4oz / 100g muesli
1. Melt the margarine with the sugar and honey.
2. Mix together the porridge oats and muesli, then pour over the melted margarine. Mix very thoroughly and spread into a 7"x 7" greased baking sheet.
3. Bake at 190°C/375°F/gas mark 5 for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and mark into triangles, leave to cool completely."An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

LOL@cullumpster, I thought it was a Jammy Dodger thread there for a while too!! MY fave!!!
keatergreyhound - the youngest at the moment is 12, but if you count Pal junior, it'd be about 12 months now??? Sorry Pal, can't quite remember when he was born now!
This is a really yummy recipe for Rice Krispie cakes, (not really cake nor a biscuit!);
200g PLAIN (gotta be plain!) cooking chocolate
2 rounded tbsp of Golden Syrup
50g margarine
Melt together in a saucepan, when melted add;
125g Rice Krispies - I add a bit more to make more!
75g of sultanas - makes them chewy!
When mixed, press out into a baking/swiss roll tray, which I line with the cereal packet bag, cheaper than grease proof baking paper!!
Then pop the tray in the fridge and TRY and wait til its cool and set, then cut into squares/triangles/slices, whatever takes your fancy!
THEN start to make some more because they don't last long!!! :mad:Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Not fair! I thought I was the youngest, but at 24 obviously not! Try snickerdoodles, you'll probably find them on the nigella lawson site. They are delicious, like mini cinnamon flavoured doughnuts. Yum!
Or you could try millionnaires shortbread (nigella again) which is basically shortbread, toffee (i make mine by boiling a in of condensed milk for a couple of hours) and chocolate.It's not WHAT you know, it's WHO you know0 -
thanks for these - they are fab! Have saved them and will have a go next week when i have time:rotfl:five children? I must be mad........ :rotfl:

Oooo I love millionaires shortbread. How do you boil the tin of condensed milk? Do you really just place in simmering water for a couple of hours - unopened?
Could you use crushed up digestives and melted butter in place of the shortbread? Or does someone have a simple shortbread recipe for me?Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!

This seems like the right thread for me to ask a query. I was once at a party and there was a kind of cake that was in a loaf shape, and I think was made of a mixture including crushed biscuits (digestives I think), cocoa powder, egg and I'm not sure what else. It was really delicious and I'm sure the Italian girl who made it said she didn't cook it, it was just a mixture that she had left to set together. Does this make sense or ring any bells to anyone? It was really yummy so I'd love to have a recipe if poss.
Thanks, sarah.Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0 -
Would it be anything like this?
No-Bake Chocolate Cake
400 g (2 packets) Marie biscuits
250 g (2 packets) Boudoir biscuits (sponge fingers)
250 g butter
125 ml sugar
4 eggs
90 ml cocoa powder
45 ml vanilla essence
200 g milk chocolate
100 g white chocolate
Crush biscuits together into small pieces in a big bowl.
Melt butter and sugar.
Beat eggs and add to butter/sugar mixture.
Add cocoa and vanilla essence.
Add this mixture to crushed biscuits and mix thoroughly.
Press mixture into a 20 cm diameter springform tin and refrigerate until cold.
Remove from springform tin.
Melt milk chocolate and pour over cake, then melt white chocolate and drizzle on top.
Refrigerate until chocolate has set."An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

CurryQueen you are a star! Thanks so much. This does indeed sound like the recipe, the girl I know didn't put any melted choc on but this would make it extra yummy. I'll give it a try soon!

This is the recipe my nanna used :j
Shortbread
6oz marg
2oz sugar
9oz plain flour
Cream sugar and marg
Fold in flour
Press into a greased tin I use a swish roll tin
Bake 20mins at 190C/Gas mark 5
Toffee
4oz marg
4oz sugar
2oz syrup
small tin of evaporated milk
boil all gently for 30/40 mins untill thick does need to be watch and stirred
Pour over cooled short bread. When toffee set melt 6oz chocolate and pour over the top.
I haven't made this in a while as I am trying to lose weight has any one got some good low cal cake/biscuit recipes even muffins as I have a real sweet tooth.0 -
I'm also 23 and so sorry OP you are sooooo not the youngest
I make flapjack by melting equal amounts (say 4oz) butter and brown caster sugar in a pan. Add about 6 tbsp golden syrup and melt it all together. Then chuck in whatever cherries/raisins etc i have to hand (4oz) and keep adding oats until the mixture goes all nice and thick but still lovely and sticky. (:rolleyes: i realise this probably isnt helping much - its prob about 8 oz oats)
Then bake at 170C for 20mins. If you take it out JUST as its turning brown the flapjack will be lovely and soft and chewy. If you leave it a little longer it will become harder0
