My daughter's friend had a Newfoundland and when she visited my house with the dog, both of mine hid behind the sofa!

The dog was absolutely MASSIVE! And clumps of her fur were everywhere, not just the odd few hairs...but huge clumps.

And don't get me started on the drool...! Lovely dog with a sweet temperament (just as well) but it wouldn't be the right one for me.
  • Don't allow your cute puppy to sleep on the bed.

And make sure you keep all your food in the top cupboards - never leave food on the countertop or pans on the stove unattended.

Both of these things will be much appreciated once you have a full grown beastie.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

LOL - this 'cute puppy' is already 10 months old according to the OP Jojo ...:rotfl:
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Still a baby in Newfie terms....easy to think 'he fits with us, how much bigger can he get?' forgetting the answer is 'how about you sleep on the sofa and Dog takes the kingsize?'

A German Shepherd. Just a quarter. Must be a grandparent!

Apparently it stops all the drooling, to be fair he doesn't drool....but he is a messy drinker.

Please don't continue to doctor a complete dog food with plain human meat, dogs need a balance of nutrients not an excess of protein. If you wish to supplement a dry food use a complete wet dog food or RAW chicken portions with the bones and skin still included. The bones are important for minerals and will help clean his teeth but always supervise.

Stinkiness can be because he is not neutered, down to poor quality diet, a health problem, natural or a combination. Do not bathe him in any shampoo containing sulphate surfactants, they are horrible for skin and hair and damage the skin flora (good bacteria) which help to keep the stink causing microorganisms under control. Clicker training is well worth doing - loads of 'how to' videos on YouTube. Furminators are indeed amazing.
