8 weeks Pregnant & bleeding 2 scans show baby growing well

Hi
I am currently 8 weeks pregnant and since last friday I have been bleeding.:o:eek:

I had a scan at the EPU on Monday which showed that baby was totally fine and the bleed was anterior to the sac.

On Tuesday the bleed became worse it was like my period had arrived :o

I had a further scan at the EPU yesterday which shown the baby is fine & growing really well from 11.2mm on monday to 17.9 mm yesterday and again showed an area of bleeding anterior to sac.

Has anyone else has this? Has it ended in MC? has the pregnancy gone on to be OK?

Thanks xxx

Hey, quick post to say I had the same thing. Bled on/off for first 3 months of first pregnancy. I remember it being absolutely terrifying and thought I had lost the baby each time. But I didn't! And she is now a very healthy 3 year old :-)
Mine was eventually diagnosed as a haematoma - which I think is maybe what yours is? Basically just bruising that is bleeding but as its away from baby doesn't affect him/her. Good luck, stay positive and stay away from google!!!!
Oh and with baby no.2 I had no bleeding at all :-)

It's futile to say don't worry, because how can you not? The thing to remember is that the baby's growing well; he or she is totally unaffected by whatever else is going on. I'm sure the bleeding will stop in time - it's so common in early pregnancy and those first weeks are a time of anxiety anyway. In a few short months all of this will be a memory, you'll feel your baby kicking and you'll be able to relax and enjoy your pregnancy x.

  • Hey tinks, just wanted to send you a hug. Sorry to hear about what's happening. As fluff says, the main thing is that you know your baby is ok. :)
  • This happened to me too. I had a history of miscarriages before my first child so when i started bleeding early on everyone including the doctors told me to prepare myself for the worst, i was devestated. They told me they would book me in for a d n c but decided to scan me, l got scanned and and low and behold there was my wee boys heart beating away l dont think i cried so much for joy. l bled a good way through my pregnancy but l had a healthy baby boy who is now 18 and im so proud of him. My advise would be to take it as easy as possible and enjoy you pregnancy, stress will cause more harm than good l know its easier said than done though our children are our pride and joy and very precious. Good luck and good health too.
  • I had this with both of my pregnancies, it's an awful feeling, and with my first they thought I had miscarried and I had to go back 2 weeks later. I have 2 healthy children now, so it can be fine.

    Good luck with everything xxx

I've had bleeding that ended in mc and bleeding that didn't so it could go either way I'm afraid :(. BUT the fact you have had two scans showing all is ok right now does make a positive outcome MUCH more likely.

To give you some idea, I had slight spotting and a scan showed the baby hadn't developed (in two pregnancies) then in my third pregnancy I had full on red, period type bleeding with clots and a scan at 6 weeks showed a tiny bean with a heartbeat, I had a few more episodes of bleeding and further scans and all was ok each time. I'm now 32 weeks and all is looking good so there is hope :)

Congratulations and I'm keeping everything crossed for you xx

Have experience of both situations. Will you have any more scans til 12 wks?

I'm glad baby is growing well, have been looking out for your news tinks xx

I've had bleeding with this pregnancy.

6 weeks - small bleed for 2 days, scan all fine heartbeat confirmed
8 weeks - medium bleed not quite as heavy as a light period but with some clots for 2 days , scan all fine, baby growing
9 weeks - massive bleed with big clots bright red blood for 3 days, scan all fine baby growing.
Spotting on and off until 13 weeks always bright red blood. Dating scan at 13 weeks all ok. Had last major bleed at 14 weeks, bit like a period again with clots, scan all ok.

I'm now 29 weeks and have an occasional bit of spotting now and again but all is fine and they still don't know what caused any of it.

Keeping everything crossed for you Tinks xx
