Taplady my arm is getting better ,I had my flu jab yesterday and the nurse said that as I had just got over a cold and infection I may feel a bit under the weather ,but so far fingers crossed I don't feel too bad.
I am so pleased for Ben as he was getting quite down. His paper round had been split between him and another lad after the summer holidays so he only works it every alternate week.It was the only way the newsagent could keep the two lads on which was nice of him. There were 22 people applied for one seven hour shift at Icelands !!!
Things are really tough out there for everyone I know and it must be horrendous if you have a family and children to keep.Still we can only hope that things will pick up a bit in the New Year.
Lou Come on honey we are all rooting for you :)
Weather has brightened up a little at least the sun has come out albeit a bit of a watery one.

Tomorrow I am planning a big baking session to fill up my cake tins and stop me from wandering around the shops once I decide to start cooking I just keep going until I fill everything up. I have some whoelwheat pastry in the freezer that I'll get out and make a savoury flan with and my youngest DGS asked this morning if I could make some jam tarts.I might make a few mince pies as well as I know I have a jar of mincemeat in the cupboard. So Saturday will be a stay-at-home-and-cook day I think.Lots of stuff to use in the storecupboard, after all that was what it was bought for .
Right I'm off now to have a small stocktake of the freezer as I know I have a few bits in there that can be used as well
Cheers chums and <<hugs >> to those who have been feeling a bit yeugh and down.Soon be Christmas and we'll hear the merry jingle of the supermarkets trying to sell us their usual old tat :):):)I like January better when they sell it all off for a fraction of the price My mincemeat jar cost me 20p last January and is still well within its sell-by date :):)

I love that too. This year's mincepies will be made with luxury mincemeat at a bargain price last January. The cheese and crackers will be served with cheap pickled walnuts and the stuffing will be made with almost free chestnut puree. Oh and we will be pulling last years crackers too :)

    Afternoon everybody,

Hope everyone is doing ok.DH has finished the job they were on & waiting to start a new one on Monday. He is a bit brassed off,he had priced a job up;an extension and some walls knocking out,and a new kitchen putting in.The chap rang to say they couldnt afford the extension but would go ahead with the other stuff and kitchen.Sent an email with a list of requirements on Monday,DH spent Wed rejigging it,and rang him yest to see if he could check some things,no answer, then last night a text to say 'thanks for your input,we have got another builder' .:mad:He hadnt even got the new price yet,so its not that.Ah well, shouldn't be surprised at how some folks are.

Lou-hope the baby makes an appearance soon.
DS2s GF gave me an aromatherapy massage earlier,so am quite chilled now, though I look a bit of a wreck with the oil still in my hair (and the girl has just been to collect the milk money:rotfl:hope I didnt scare her)
We are going to the local beer festival tonight, not that I have loads.DS2 is going with some mates as his GF is working later, not sure about DS1,he is skint. There are quite a few of our friends going, and its usually good, and not too dear a night out.If you ask for halves they are more like 2/3 full :D

Our broadband has been acting up today,at least its back on but seems slow.Right ,better do a bit of ironing, have a good evening x

    Evening all,

    Congratulations Ben...

Had dinner out to-day...hake, fat chips ( !!) mushy peas....it was lovely.

Was very naughty and bought 6 Panettone from Lidl, they sell out very quickly, I only got one last year...they keep for ages and are lovely to have with a cuppa.

Was at a funeral this morning and met so many people I hadn't seen for years....one lady said she reckoned she hadn't seen me for 100 years..was nice to catch up with old friends.

Lou....hope that lazy baby has arrived by now and that all is well with both of you.

We had Bran, DD4's dog for a sleep over last night, he and Mossy get on really well and I had a good laugh watching them 'fighting', Bran is a little terrier and Mossy a big elephant of a dog and Bran wins most of the battles....good to laugh.

Have huge store of presents, need to check them out as not sure what is there so will get round to putting name tags on some over the next week or so, don't want to buy anything until I assess what I have.

Positive vibes and hugs to all in need or want
