O/S Daily Friday 12 October 2012

OS Daily - Friday 12th October 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 11th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning everyone ,wide awake before the alarm went off this morning as usual.I find it hard to get out of the habit of waking early still at least I get a bit more done whan I'm up and about
I went for my 'flu jab yesterday and whilst I was there my mobile went and it was DGS Ben so excited as he had got the little part-time job at Iceland that he was after:j:jHe does a paper round in the morning and was looking to top his cash up if he could as he is in 6th form doing his 'A'levels.Boys of his age want clothes and to be able to go out with their chums and my DD can't afford to give him a great deal. She pays for his phone and the rest he has to do himself. He was really buzzing and so was the practice nurse as she knows how hard it is for youngsters to get part-time work locally. Its only a 7 hour shift once a week but with his paper round it works out he should be bringing in around £220.00 per monthwhich will help him to save as he wants to go to reading festival next year with his friends.
Today is History club this afternoon so that will be a nice end to the week. I had a chap come to quote to change my bathroom yesterday I have no idea how much yet it will be but it means taking out the bath (which I can't use as A.its too small and B.I prefer showering)Fingers crossed it won't be too huge
Right I'm off to make a cuppa and have some breakfast
I hope everyone has a good day its Friday already and only two weeks until half term This year is flying by
Cheers chums JackieO xxx

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I just sat and read the link its brilliant and I bet there isn't a Mum in the country that hasn't felt like striking at some point. My eldest DD was dreadful in her teens and I cured her by inviting the boy next door (who had a bit of a thing about her) to come look at her revolting bedroom I swear she had someone living under the bed the amount of dishes there were there.I just refused to clean up after her in the end and she got the message when going to the wardrobe she found she had run out of things to wear:rotfl:At one point she would stand in front of her bedroom door and say 'Don't go in Mum you'll only shout at the mess' Today she is almost 45 and the tidiest person you could imaginge and when I hear her telling her own DD (19) off for leaving a mess I smile and think YES:D what goes around comes around:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Morning all,

Cold here today but no rain atm, we are meant to get some later though.

Well done to young Ben for getting the job :T:T they are hard to come by atm xx

Off to work today, need to drop dd off and the dog on the way, my lovely mum has cooked us a dinner for tonight, its her Greek shepherds pie, which is lush, I will really appreciate it after a day at work.

Giving blood today at work, and thats my excuse not to do a lot for the rest of the day :D.

Did a wash last night and stuck it on the airer, wont be dry yet, we have no heating on yet, so find it difficult to get things dry.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Cloudy, blustery and wet underfoot here this morning, rain started early evening and into the night although not raining now. DH up but has a day off today as we're going away on our own.

Dinner last night was ham and cheese kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk, and fish, jacket potato and veg for me. Wasn't brilliantly productive yesterday but did get all the washing, drying and ironing up to date, packed bag, did a couple of jobs on pc and made a couple of telephone calls, did a very quick hoover through. Couldn't seem to get myself into gear at all, but house is not too bad so it's no major disaster. Did food shopping yesterday, so this morning just need to go to the bank first thing then home to get car packed and we'll get off mid morning.

Dsis ok, in quite alot of pain so has been given stronger painkillers, but it was a long op so not surprising really.

    Happy Friday everyone x

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

Off to look at wallpapers today for a wall in our lounge.
Then it's some painting in our bedroom.
Off out with H tonight, kids staying at granny and grandads. DS saying he's not staying unless Luna does.......will fight that battle later ;)

No idea what were doing yet so tea could be a take away or eating in a restaurant lol

Hugs and spoons all round xxxx

Lou update I have text her this morn but not heard anything back. She had gone to be checked over at hospital last night, BP was up and she was still only 2cm. Hoping she's made some progress overnight. Will let you know when I know any more :D any baby out vibes wouldn't go amiss ;)

    Morning :hello:

It's been raining quite a lot here, but completely by chance it rains while we're driving or inside. When we go out to a beach, it stops. Cept for when we went to Caerhays, we got soaked but stayed on the beach anyway :D

I bought some tat (well, you have to, don't you? lol). Wooden fish on a rope and a little wooden boat. I'd show you a pic but I've forgotten my log in for photobucket. Also did the other cheesy thing - visited Port Isaac and took a pic of Doc Martin's house and the restaurant. We've been ridiculously touristy this year :D

We went to Callestick Farm - fabulous ice cream - and the woman there gave me 5 x 5L ice cream tubs. Unfortunately they were empty :rotfl: but they'll be great for storage. Picked up 6 1L clip-top kilner jars in Trago for £2.09 each :j

ETA - remembered my log in details. STUFF THAT LOOKS FAB IN THE SHOP BUT WHEN YOU GET HOME, YOU WONDER WHAT THE HELL YOU WERE THINKING

    Morning all

Lou - come on and get that baby out!

Not checked the weather yet, but I presume it's raining again.

I'm glad it's Friday, been a tough week what with moving the office. Taking work kids to new office this morning, which will be interesting as they have no tables! They will only be in for a couple of hours as it's their half day. Then this afternoon I need to catch up on emails/admin and unpack more stuff.

After work I am going to pop to shops to have a look for something to wear out tomorrow - going for lunch with uni girls. Then have a quiet night as have busy weekend, looking forward to Strictly tomorrow night!

OS wise - WM will go on tonight, dinner will be from freezer.

    Have a good day all
