Urgent please help: stuck abroad

Hi guys I'll cut out the crap

Gf and I are in Berlin. Our flight is in 9 hours. She's most likely had passport stolen. Police have filed a report.

We won't be able to make easyjet flight since we need to be at embassy at 9am with 2passport photos & £95

I have insurance with fluid. She's with travel guard.

She's spoke to her insurance:

- they will cover her £95 & new passport
- not new flight or hotel
- advised that easyjet may hold us our flight

There are no other direct flights tomorrow

There's 1-2 for Saturday not with easyjet

We're in a mess.

Any ideas or are we screwed ie we fork out for new flights and hotels

Euro train it home?

Try looking at flights into other UK airports -Maybe a cheaper option.

Have you read through your gf's policy to see the exclusion for not covering her additional expenses due to theft ?

Can some of your own expenses be covered by your policy ?

It's all down to the small print.

Am I right in thinking some of the problem is because you aren't sure if th epassport was actually stolen or just lost ?

Insurance companies usually have a 24 hour emergency line -Can you really get through to neither ?

Easyjet have several later flights tomorrow (Friday)into various London airports from Berlin

ask easyjet if they'll let her fly with copy of police report and other ID.
Then the problem shifts to the UK end, and immigration have procedures for this situation (happens often).
Failing that, if you are short of funds then coach back home will be cheapest.
PITA I'm sure but the only way to approach it is to view it as a bit of an adventure!

The easyjet site mentions being able to log in and change your flight

I don't know whether this applies to all flights, or what other conditions, but it would be worth trying fairly hard to do this before your current flight

    https://www.easyjet.com/en/myeasyjet/signin

And there's another EZY flight to Luton at 1655. Train to Manchester might be cheaper than a whole new air fare

  • Hey guys thanks so much

Flying to manc from schonfield (sp?)

Can't get through to easyjet or my own insurance company.

She made it clear to the insurance that it was stolen. Unfortunately she has the small print but only on email & we're using free wifi and she cannot find it on her phone.

Flying to London may be an option.

Cheapest flights we've found are sat 7am for £74? total and 3-4* hotel £30~ so not bad...don't think there's easyjet flights tomorrow after our 1025am one to manc at least. Then there's train cost to manc...

Thank god for free wifi & helpful staff & you guys

She's just been saying how she had a bad or odd feeling about this holiday and strangely there have been a few bumps along the way, quite eery, and then this

Plan is ring easyjet tomorrow & head to embassy at least

I'm a bit slow producing this extra info on changing the booking, but maybe it can still be useful if you see it before that 2 hours deadline

You can change the name or flight details in your booking. Changes can be made up to 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure time of your flight.
    ...

If your booking was originally made online at easyJet.com name and flight changes can be made online. To make changes to your booking, simply login to My easyJet, locate the booking you wish to change and select the ‘Transfer to another flight’ or ‘Change a passenger name’ option. Once you have confirmed the new details you will need to pay any applicable fees or charges before the change can be confirmed. If your booking was made through another method or company you can still make changes, but you will need to telephone our Customer Service Team to make any amendments.
