I posted a cheque Friday 12th October and the money has been sitting in my current account ever since. I finally got through yesterday after holding on for an hour and was told they have a long backlog due to popularity of their accounts. I explained I just wanted to know they had received the cheque but they could not trace my application on the system as they had only got up to applications received earlier that week commencing 8th October. I was told to contact them towards the middle of next week if I had still not heard anything.

I am not happy as even though I was told the rate would be backdated to when received I have a large amount sitting in my current account for over a week and I do not know whether the cheque and application might have gone astray. I would have been happy with an email response or acknowledgment when they received it (surely not too much to ask).
  • an hour?!?!?! :rotfl:

i gave up long before that, and decided that m&s was definitely not the place for my money...

I wouldn't even want to begin to think how long it could take to get your money out of there!
  • There is clearly a way to thank people for their posts, but I just can't find it. I just want to thank sceptic001 and Claire07 for their words of encouragement. Let's hope we all find something out this week. I know I'm not going to be pleased if my application is refused because they closed the issue early, despite their verbal guarantee.

Underneath the text of the post you want to thank are some buttons, one of them says Thanks, click on that button , job done.

I applied online on Friday 19th and received an email this morning that my payment had been declined and asked me to send a cheque, my Bank phoned for a security check so money will now be transferred.

    M&S email address is internet.investments@mandsmoney.com
  • Same problems as others have reported. Applied on a Monday using my debit card, M&S attempted to deduct the funds on the following Sunday but the Santander anti-fraud squad refused payment. Sent a cheque last Monday, still has not been cashed and I'm losing over £5 interest a day. Unable to get through by phone or get an email reply. What may work is to phone on a Sunday or late at night (when they are officially shut) and leave a message asking them to call you back. That worked for me last week.

I applied online for one of these bonds on Friday19th using debit card instructions - received a confirmation of application email on Saturday 20th.

Just now - Monday 22nd received an email from them.
Thanks for your recent online investment. We're pleased to confirm that your application has been successfully completed. You will receive postal confirmation within five working days
  • Just to give a bit of reassurance to others in the same boat, I just gave them a call and after a VERY long hold (good job it's a freephone number) they were able to confirm that they had processed my application and that a) it still gets the old rate of interest and b) interest has been backdated to the correct date.
  • For those of you who sent a cheque this might be of interest.
I 'phoned this afternoon (<1/2 hr on hold) and was told that they had processed my cheque (posted on 12th) and that it would go through shortly.
They could not confirm receipt of a relative's cheque posted on the 16th because they were just processing cheques received on 16th/17th. They suggested I ring back in a couple of days.

They also confirmed that any Issue 14 (correct) applications and cheques would receive the higher rate of interest as long as they were received before the 24th.
