I made a mistake choosing my ISA, can I transfer to a new one?

Apologies for the delay, but little update for anyone else who may have got into a similar pickle: I went into a Santander branch and they moved me over to one of their other ISA products. They said technically it shouldn't be transferable, but the manager was really helpful and said she'd put it through manually. The request had to be made to another department, but in about a week's time it was all done.

I now have an ISA that understandably gives less interest, but I can make additional contributions and use up all of my allowance. Was a bit worried about having to go into the bank - I've had bad experiences in regards to customer service, particularly with Lloyds - but the staff in Santander were really friendly and eager to help.

    Thanks for the update.

Santander were under no obligation to do this for you but its great to hear that they did. Too much Santander bashing goes on (IMO) so its good to get some balance.

Good to see this advice, as I've just realised that I've made the same mistake. Will call Santander tomorrow to see how to move the ISA over to another account or to top-up (worth a try surely!).

Fingers crossed - will post message confirming progress.

Update: I phoned Santander twice, with the first adviser saying that nothing could be done. The second was more helpful and as I had opened the account online, checked whether I had received a copy of the Ts & Cs through the post. I explained that did not recall receiving them by post, and was told that Santander's back office would look into the matter and get back to me. The only other option open to me was to transfer to a lower interest ISA.

A few days later I received a letter from Santander stating that they would allow me a further 14 days to add more funds to my ISA. I did so and how have a full ISA for 2012-13.
So, good news all round! :j
