Hi All,
I bought a couple of Continental tyres on Sunday on EBay. They are part worn...but only by 0.3 mm. Total tread is 7.7mm...great...I thought!
Received them on Tuesday and fitted to the front wheels of my car on Wednesday. By the time I got home on Wednesday from work (on the M42 for 2 junctions...less than 10 miles total distance), one of the tyres was almost flat. I pumped it up and came to work this morning thinking not much about it (although I realise I should have now). Again...after 2 colleagues pointing it out...the same tyre was flat again. Just taken it to my local Quikfit around the corner and it has a tiny pin hole in it...however, because I have driven it going flat, the interior wall is now damaged and has had to be replaced with a brand new one costing me £148!
Not exactly my week really being as my back tyre had a puncture on Monday too!!!
Where do I stand with the seller...do I have a case for a refund? I have emailed the seller and he said I can return it and he will refund me half of the price of 1 tyre as it is unusable and damaged!!! Go figure! that's the reason I emailed him!!!!!
Should I open a case with EBay???:(

I think his offer is reasonable. After all, the puncture may have occurred on your way home regardless of the distance.0

If you'd fitted them and not driven anywhere I think you'd have an excellent case for a full refund, but sinec you did go somewhere, you really can't prove for certain that they were that way when you got them. Although I suspect ebay will side with you if you went that route.
I think it would depend; if it's a business seller, I would probably want the full refund for one tyre. If it was a private seller, maybe negotiate and settle for what you think it fair.
bear in mind, if you do open a case, ebay will want you to return the whole thing - i.e. both tyres - which might end up more costly than just settling for an amount."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0 -

Oh! I didn't realise that!!!0 -
If you bought a tyre from Kwik Fit,had it fitted and drove off into the sunset,Do you think you would get ANY offer ( apart from FO) for returning with a puncture the next day and saying the tyre is knackered please give my money back?Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0

I have got to agree. The OP drove the car with a flat tyre which caused the damage otherwise it would have been a puncture repair."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

If you do decide to return to seller Paisley freight charge about £15 for two tyres, considerably cheaper than some other companies (I have no connection with this company).0

Yes, I think you would, since the tyre would be obviously faulty and/or not fit for purpose. It should probably last a bit longer than that.If you bought a tyre from Kwik Fit,had it fitted and drove off into the sunset,Do you think you would get ANY offer ( apart from FO) for returning with a puncture the next day and saying the tyre is knackered please give my money back?"Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

They might do something as a gesture of goodwill but getting a puncture does not mean that the tyre is unfit for purpose."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
