Hi there, I just wanted to say that I hope the move went well, and that the building of the castle is going OK.

I only have my son (and two nephews) so he has no siblings
I make sculptures (not out of card or wood) and do work for magazines and sell & exhibit my pieces...I did a piece specially for my sister a couple of years ago and my mum said it was cheap and mean making presents...that going to a shop and spending money shows people are worth it ;( you'd think I'd stop listening but it's difficult!!

My Dad made me a home made Barbie house one year and I loved it.0

Maybe she's not been able to make it for whatever reason and doesn't want to come on here and disappoint you all? :-)0

I'd love to see it too, but I wonder if she wants her son to be the first to see it, rather than us lot.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

I have loved reading this.
Over the years my very talented Dad made us a farmhouse, a dollshouse and all the furniture, swords, a 'cottage' toy box, a climbing frame, and countless other little things out of scraps
The only thing that is not still played with more than 20 years later is the climbing frame, being wooden and outside it eventually gave up the ghost.
I wouldn't dream of getting rid of any of it.
If you have the ability to make something like that it isn't just a christmas present, its an heirloom that your grandchildren will play with.0 -
ive just read this thread and got to thinking about all the homemade gifts i used to get,
i have just revamped one to give to my daughter who is 6 a babies cot my dad made for me about 35 years ago, ive given it a sand and a lick of paint and no doubt my daughter will love it the same as i did, much more because grandad made it.
i remember when my son who is now 20 was a toodler i made him a cardboard box garage and he loved it, someone bought him a proper plastic gargae but he always preferred to play with the cardboard one.
im sure your son will love the castle and it will be remembered for years to come maybe even used by his children in the future :Twhen your life is a mess light one more cigarette its so logical!!
get up and dance, get up and smile, get up and drink to the days that are gone in the shortest while :T

When I was a kid, my dad made me a toy garage, with a car showroom, a lift which went up & down when you cranked a little handle, petrol pumps etc. I LOVED it, and will never forget it.... ps......I'm 54.
Ignore your Mother - if she had a creative bone in her body, she would have a different opinion.
Have a lovely Christmas.0
